I went into my credit union this week to do a little business. When I came out, I saw this older IM parked in the lot and did a double-take. It looked like my car did before paint a few years back, everything in a slightly different shade of red from one surface to the next. Clearly, this car is well-loved and driven a lot.
I thought to say hello, so I did. I figured the guy would be cool, because his car makes Wild Bill's look like a freshly-polished diamond. You HAVE to love your car to abuse it like that.
Turns out, the shop in Annapolis that really takes good care of me had recommended this guy get in touch with us on this site; he was going to call sooner or later. He had seen the line drawings of my car at Tif's, and wanted to know a few things about my car.
The guy's name is Fred, and he said he'd try to post something sometime this week. He's a nice guy with a cruisable car. He's probably about Kelly's age, and talked a bit about how he remembered driving the bejesus out of his coupes back in the day. He lives on the western approach to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, so cruising with you NJ folks isn't unlikely for him.
He told me that his car harkens back to the pre-Henry era of Frank Reisner at IM, and from the description of its components it has a lot in common with Mickey's red car in Wilmington. He's already got contact information for Mickey, Kelly and me. He's a driver, too, not a guy with a garage ornament. I'm kind of surprised I've never run into him before; he says he's got a lot of miles on the IM and that it's a frequent, if not daily, driver.

Should be a fun dude to cruise with. Here's his car:

That car looks ALOT like my car did when I got it. I had those exact same wheels and caps and my car also had the varying shades of red from panel to panel.
I'd really like to get a look at his car now that I'm starting to dig into mine. It would be nice to compare builds of the same era. See if he wants to take a cruise up to Wilmington. I know a nice little bistro there. The owner is a speedster fan!
