That's Angela's Spyder. She reportedly passed away from Covid complications last year. Quite and amazing car and person.

She was one of a kind. That is the car that was built by Steve and Angela Lane.
I remember her writing about the first Spyder drive, her sitting on a milk crate, and having one forward speed and five reverse! They forgot to flip the ring gear to the other side!
Any and every car they built was painted black, if they painted it.
I and a bunch of other east coasters met them a couple times. I used to speak with Angela on the phone. She was a wealth of information, especially on aircooled 911s.
What set her apart was her passion, humor, and zest for life.
Definitely one of a kind. We all miss her, and I wish the best for Steve her children.
@DannyP @aircooled look at the pictures and read the comments in the auction. Car has a IFS and 911 rack & pinion!
Rick, I was around when the Lane's built that. It's got a 911 rack and I believe unequal A-arms and coil springs. It may have 911 lower arms, but I don't remember exactly.
It is a HIGHLY modified Thunder Ranch. I know it has 911 brakes and a De Dion rear suspension. Never saw it in person, but I know Angela drove it from Oregon to the Knott's Berry farm replica show. She had a nice D-shaped sunburn on her forehead from the backwards ball cap...
They drove partially cross country to buy 2 unfinished Speedster but never heard id they got built. Loved to read her posts here - That car has provenance like Ruby.
I saw it at the inaugural SOC get-together at Knott's Berry Farm in 2005. I flew in for the weekend and stayed in a hotel room with Jim Ward, who had just picked up Ruby in Vancouver, and driven it down to Orange County for the show.
Jim had put together a group of friends to bounce ideas off of, which quickly jelled into a tight-knit group, who stayed close even after Jim passed. We called ourselves the Ward Automotive Gruppe, and held long-weekend get-togethers (it's why I drove my car out to Kalifornia in '12 and '14) for years. We still stay in touch.
Angela was always a friend of the club - and when we got together in Ashville, OR just after Jim passed, we spent a long weekend with her and Steve.
Angela was one-of-a-kind - unbelievably kind, ridiculously hard-working, and more than a little bit crazy (in the very best sense of the word). Her knowledge about the nuts and bolts of Porsches was like nobody I've ever met. Her husband, Steve has a nearly 2 ft wide Porsche crest tattooed on his back, a commitment to a particular brand I've never seen before (and I grew up in the Ford/Chevy rivalry in the heyday of muscle cars). They didn't hire stuff - they did it all: engine work, fabrication, welding, and paint/body. All of it was done to an extremely high standard.
They were an amazing team.
The Lanes built this car together but it was Angela's. Steve (like another tradesman I know) didn't really fit in a Spyder, even with the car's stretched proportions.
There are some beautiful cars represented on this site, and some special builds - but to my mind, there are none with anywhere this much knowledge, effort, money, and skill, all wrapped up in something so clearly special.
This thing should sell for six figures. If it doesn't, the buyer will have stolen it.
Normally not a fan of black (I've had a few) but this car is stunning.
Just needs a bit of refreshing and drive it.
