Just a interest check, I have been using my new plotter to print out templates for my homebrew carpet kits. It looks like I have specs pretty much cleaned up and will have the prototype kit that I had cut out last week piped and installed tommorow.

My upholster kept the templates and now has a cool little tool which will let us make limited runs of carpet kits in correct squareweave that will be a perfect drop in for the vintage and CMC cars. (limited run is 10-15 a day if we really need to)

I have been doing this mainly to see if I could, get it to work with my plotter for other projects, and want to pass along product if anybody wants it.

So is there any interest in a drop in squarewave carpet kit for the replica world at a cost of say 450$ delivered. This would included a set of floor mats as well. Color choice will be limited because materials are so hard to get lately.

I would clearly become a sponser of the site before anything ships. We are also not really interested in taking group orders, we would only sell what we have on hand so it really could be in your hands in 1 day if you wanted to pay extra for shipping, and have a paypal credit card account that would make this even easier.

We would also offer a complete set of panamerican stickers as well as I made the vector files and we have a inhouse plotter ready to go. (Again something I made for my car)

We pan to offer both interior and truck kit, the truck kit would be another 100$ give or take if ordered with the interior kit.

The current colors that I can get in the period correct weave is oatmeal and this light grey, both are vw cloth and as close to the 356 that I can find right now.

We pipe in black vinyl but have just about every color that you could ever want, we also have black leather piping if you would want that.
The prototype is in, it does not fit exactly as well as I wanted. Its better then the CMC stuff ever was but its not perfect its about as good as a standard vintage install. Also my car has a roll cage and I had to cut to fit it around that so I made some modifications.

As soon as I have the front firewall installed I will take some pictures and you guys can decide if you want them for yourselfs.

The carpet that I used is thicker then the standard vintage stuff so it doe not conform to the corners of the cars. The squareweave is thinner and will look better. But this stuff has a bunch more sound deading and it really helps.

The thicker carpet plus the dynomat really quite the car down.

hey Michael, nice CMC, can you tell me where I might find some cocoa mats like yours they are great!! Also, did CMC ever sell a conv D rep, some one said they made the roll up windlow roadster for a year or two, never heard that, if they did maybe it would widen my choices, right now, I'm looking for used IM.
thanks Michael, thanks and are you a car dealer in KY, if so can you help me locate a replica? Maybe you don't deal in stuff like that, I'm a dar dealer in PA and just never run across any, having a real hard time finding any used IM's, thats what I really want, for the weather factors, roll ups, and I'd like to have rack and pinion, but I would consider others perhaps, please let me know
Here's some other pics of my mats....My interior color is caramel, my top is tan and the original CMC carpet is brown....I picked these mats made just for CMC or Vintage speedsters because the multi colors in the mats (tan, caramel& black) match the colors in and on my car. But I'm going to change to square weave carpet and also change color so I will sell them at a fair price if anyone is interested. If you like you can e-mail me...And Yes I am an Import car dealer. I've been very lucky to acquire 3 Vintage Speedsters through out the 2005 year and sold all 3 very quickly. It's possible that I may sell my personal CMC...But only if I find a replacement first! I've had this one for a little over a year and it's been a lot of fun...I drive it alot...back and forth to the office. It's in the garage now ...covered up....waiting for spring weather.

Wolfgang, thats a pretty rare piece you have, not many people even know they made it for a year, I just came across one in my hunt for an IM, I'm actually considering the CM, I'm currently waiting for more pics, esp with top down, to see what kind of top frame, if when down ,the boot is flush with car or if the frame sticks up, I know it might sound wierd but I don't want the struggles with the top frame I had with my CMC, wasn't much of a frame, just a couple of flimsy bows that didn't have much structure, the IM's seem worlds apart, but I'm not sure if in 84 they had the stronger one. With the CMC I had you couldn't just flip the top up or down when desired, what a pain.
Sorry for the wait guys I am completely computer illiterate when it comes to hosting pictures but I think that I have it worked out now.

Here is the first shot of the car when the sound deading went in. This will be important later. All told about 130sqf of dynamat went into the car.

This is the finished prototype kit going in. this is a outdoor carpet and is supposed to be water proof, it is NNNNOOOOTTT sqaureweave. I also have not finalized how I am going to cover the front firewall or started on the truck kit.

The biggest problem is that the templates fit my car perfect, but I have a good 1/4 inch dynomat which is going to effect how yours is going to fit. I am going to size everything up a little bit using the original templates as guides + my updates..

What is going to happen is I am going to make one kit like this in the next few weeks, In squareweeve with all the updates and kinks that I worked out with the third kit. The buyer will get the kit at a major discount (cost + shipping). If it fits and goes in easy then I will start making them if not then its a gamble for the person who bought it.

This will not happen until I get approval from the site admin and become a sponser though.
