Can anyone ID the kit?

I'm chiefly interested because I want the listed Type IV 2300cc. I'd love to mate that to a 5-Speed.

Looks like a Vintage to my untrained eye, but the "hump" in the middle seems low and square, making me think Beck.

This car appears to be a BECK. If you go to the website, http://www.beckspeedster.com/accessories.html you can find photos of a similar, if not the same car. Another tip-off to the mfg was the under dash air conditioning front.

The "add" also has "see our other auctions" "vist our show room" and it appears to be a dealer style site. There is NO showroom, and there is NO other auctions.

It is hard to say if this particular auction is a scam, but I would be very wary of sending this fellow any money. Go in person and take a couple of big friends to pick up the car.

That is the exact same car as the one on the Beck site, aside from different wheels. I'd check with Carey and see if he can shed some light on it? On a side note: if it turns out to be a legit auction I will be kicking myself in the ass forever! That car is the one I am striving to convert my car into.

This car was put up for auction in May 06, with full documentation of the build. Beautiful car the item # 4638288418. I bid on this car before I decided to build my own. I bid 30k at the time. Its interesting to see it pass this way again. I lost it for 1500 bucks. It was a very nice car. Hope this helps

It looks like the $9K listing is a bad cut-and-paste job from the real thing.

Guys, I am 99% sure that is a 2004 Beck formerly owned by Richard St.Louis (NJ). I recall the dash arrangment and T4 being unique along with the Merlot paint. It had very few miles on it when he sold it. I really liked the paint and the drivetrain selections on this car.

Maybe an e-mail contact with him will help track down the current owner and info on the car and any problems he may have had with the engine (or not.)

Love it! I once bid on a Harley Ultra classic from NJ. Full of pics and documentation. Saw the same bike later being sold in Avellino Italy. When I inquried as to why the bike had NJ plates, I didnt hear from the seller. Everyone has a story. Im glad this was uncovered before anyone was hurt. Good work Boys!

There are guys who do this all the time on Ebay Motors. They take legitimate auction items (that have previously been on Ebay) and repost them with ridiculous prices.
How they make any money doing this is beyond me, but Ebay usually pulls these fraudulent auctions within hours of their appearence.
At the bottom of every Ebay auction is a section called "What else can you do?" part of which is an option to "Report this item." Next time any of us spots an item like this, we should click on the "Report this item" button and let Ebay know. That may get these scams yanked even faster.

There was a $7500 A Model Coupe on E-Bay this week with no Vin or Engine #s. A scam. That ad was pulled too.

And to think Model A's were only $300 or $400 new.....

Within the last twelve months, I've had two speedters re-appear on ebay right after the auctions ended, up for sale for half a day and gone....bastards even used my photo's and text.
Then there is the second chance offers that run wild on ebay, the red speedster I sold last month had bidders receiving low Buy It Now offers after the auction ended...the idiots actually emailed me to ask if I would sell a $23k speedster for the $14k.
ebay just doesn't give a crap no matter how many times you contact their security people.
Another joke is the a-holes that click the Buy It Now only to send you an email asking that they over pay you and you send them the balance, again ebay does nothing but count their millions in daily receipts.

For everybody's amusement and edumication, I shall post the email I received from this "seller." (I had emailed for futher information.)

I think he has a brother in Nigeria with bank account that has been seized and all he needs is collateral to transfer it.

I think it is a basic "phishing" ID Theft scheme.

The only thing missing is his procedure for sending payment via Western Union and recieving the car within 7 days of payment , with the shipping included, ofcourse. My Itaian "friend" wanted 3500 dollars for a one year old, Harley Ultra Classic. Youve got to love it!

Hey, now. In fairness, maybe this bumbling yogurthead realized he can't afford the big operation and the recently imported chick magnet at the same time -- and really wants to be a charitable monkey.
I bought the Sloppy Jalopy for $16K, got robbed and STILL had to take the car. If I had known then what I know now, I'd have dumped the bleeotch for $7K myself!
