Attached are some pics of a car I've been waiting for for 2 years. Additional pics are available in my photo gallery if you are intersted. I ordered the car in Dec of '05, it was shipped to the dealer from South Africa in July of 06, and has been in build mode since then. Part of the problem was the availability of the ZF transaxle. The car should be completed in the next week.
In December of '06 I was checking on the car when I saw a Beck Speedster on the showroom floor. I bought it on the spot and I must say I've had a lot of fun with the car. I've always been a Big V-8 kind of guy and wasn't sure I'd like the air-cooled experience, but it has been kind of cool. People are generally intimidated by a car like the GT40 or a Cobra, but they like the smiley-looking speedster, and everybody assumes it's the real thing. I have yet to have anyone ask, "Hey, is that a kit car?"

I have driven in one of the SPF GT40's, amazing race car feel and acceleration. It surprises me that its taken this long to get it. At Olthoff Racing here in NC they had 7 or 8 of them in the back when I was there a couple of months ago, along with a couple of the Coupes. Congrats on the new car, I enjoyed my MKIII.

Hey Mike :

You said that you have yet to have anyone ask, "Hey, is that a kit car?".. I live in Vancouver and about 3 times a week someone comes up to me and asks if I'm driving an Intermeccanica. Usually the tone in their voice is that it's better than the real thing, and then there is always the story about how they almost bought one, but it didn't happen for some reason or another. When you see them coming over and you are in a hurry you know it will take a couple of minutes to go though the conversation, but when I have time you end up talking to complete strangers for half an hour at a time.

Even the cop giving me the $ 138 speeding ticket last week wanted to talk about the car.
