Got a question for you all. Not sure if it is in the ignition or possibly a guage. When starting the car wants to slow crank for a second then fires right up. I changed the battery and starter. Still does it.
The amp guage does not read correctly and sticks on zero..when I rev the car up the needle pops the positive side of the guage.. So possibly the guage is bad? What are your thoughts?

Do what was said above by other members and if it still drags then check a few other things such as your ground strap, positive lead from battery to starter and also your starter bushing if you have one. The way to tell if it's a bushing is by the type of starter you installed. If it terminates at the starter gear then it's a self supporting starter. If it has a dowel that protrudes from the starter gear then that dowel rides in a bushing inside your transaxle. If it's worn or not lubricated it will cause a dragging or slow starter.

Since it had been slow with 2 starters check what I said above then report back with your findings.
so here is what i have found.

The car has an alternator. There is a 10 guage running fromt he alt to the s terminal
there is a 10 guage running from the starter to the I terminal
there is a 10 guage going to the ignition switch
there is a 10 guage going to the fuse panel (don't hink this is suppose to be there)
there is a ground going to the chassis

thoughts?

thanks for the advice guys. I knew it had to be simple. Seems as though the previous owner never wired in to complete the circuit of the alternator. So I installed an idiot light. Also redid the chassis ground as well as added a ground between the chassis and the tranny. Also found other loose connectors. So all in all it was worth it. Thankfully the builder followed the wiring diagram pretty well so things weren't to far off. So problem solved.
Thanks again.
