Hi All,

As I fire up the Speedy for the Spring I am having some issues with my lawnmower variety ignition switch (binding, sticking in 'start' position, etc) and am looking for an update on compatible switches. I've always despised the look and feel of what's installed and am looking to upgrade anyway.

I've reviewed several of the previous threads and discussions on this but many are several years old (or older). The Bosch ignition switch seems to consistently be a mentioned as a good option. Is this still the case?

I am hoping to come as close to the original as is possible, particularly with the bezel. If an original switch (Stoddard, Sierra Madre, etc) is practical I am willing to pony up (yikes!) for the authentic version as well. Plus, having a 'Porsche' stamped key would be kind of cool, too!

Thanks in advance for any input

- Brent

HOLY MOLY!

That before photo shows a switch that really sucks!

No wonder you wanted to replace it with something that looks more like a proper Porsche part.

Well done!

LOL. That’s the “good” switch I bought from Carey because when I bought my car it had and even cheesier lock/key that could be turned with a screwdriver. I’ve been meaning to get a VW replacement since forever. It’s just one of those projects that’s always gets shuffled down the list.
