I really don't like the Ignition Switch that VS installed in my car. Not that it's doing anything wrong but rather I don't really like the KEY and how Cheesy it looks and how scratchy/wobbly the key goes into the switch. It looks and feels like something that would be on a tractor or forklift ! Picky-picky I guess, but some happiness has to come from this Madness Ha Ha!  What I want is a key that's more substantial in size and weight!

Can anyone direct me to a supplier that has something more of what I want. Not a complicated switch with numerous terminals that I won't use but something which has the basics like on-off-start-bat and acc. Thanks in advance........Bruce

Ha! Bruce, you are on the same path I was a while back. I got a really beautiful polished aluminum ring from Kevin Hines taking a chance it would fit because he wasn't sure what switch VS was using. Luckily, it fits great. Looks just like a factory Porsche 356 part but fits the VS switch and under $10.

As far as the key, I looked at a bunch of Porsche blanks and from pics it looks like the grooves are all wrong. The only other thing to try is to go to my locksmith buddy and see if he has a blank that is a little bigger. It won't say Porsche on it but at least it won't look like a Lowes riding mower key.  The lock, mine anyway, works pretty well so I'm hesitant to change it. I also turned it 180 so the key teeth are on the bottom. The teeth on the top always reminds me of an old Ford.

In my other cars while rebuilding/rewiring I've used Ron Francis 'Synergy' ign. switches. The one in my '55 Chevy has worked flawlessly for over 20yrs.

They are available with several different color combos and include two keys and are made in the USA...no cheap import crap...cost is about $61...

Can't speak about the quality of Bosche switches...but if you are not into keeping your car 'stock looking' or all German made products the Ron Francis ign. switches are very dependable.

X3 on The Bosh switch... And the key looks the part for pre 1957.5 if originality is important.

post '57.5 you go to the porsche Logo key... the K100, and for C models they graduated to the K300.

i just purchased the ignition switch for my B project.... Ouch!!!  But my old switch was beyond repair-- due to vandalism At a local downtown garage.  Long story.
