I would say that which ignition wire is best for your purposes depends a lot upon what you already have in the ignition system and do you expect to use a radio/cd player or do you have electronic ignition or an aftermarket coil etc etc......an all out race engine requires a much different ignition wire than does a cruiser with a 3000 watt stereo system.... I have used stock VW which was Borsch, Taylor 10 mm, MSD, Compufire ignition wires, solid core, and wire wound core, carbon core, and who knows what else....

Stock engine? i would use stock ignition wires and connectors... anything else, I prefer MSD...it is robust and works very well with my MSD distributor and MSD 6AL ignition system. I also liked very much the Compufire wires that came with their ignition system, until it expired from my having done something stupid...

Jim, I just picked up an MSD distributor and have a 6AL left over from an old parts deal. Would you have a diagram or a link to a diagram for wiring it all into a VW harness?

Sort of a color coded what-goes-where to get the two to work together in a VW?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

TC
TC, I have the original instruction book. It doesn't tell you which wire to connect to in a VW harness but it does give all the required wire destinations. Unfortunately, I use a completely custom wiring harness from Streetworks, so my installation will not answer your wire to wire question. I will scan relevant pages on the destinations later today and either post it here on the site or email it to you.....it is not a difficult installation, just a bit unusual.
