Ok, I bought everything, counterweighted crank,cam, cylinder set, bla bla for my Type 1 build. Sent my case to the shop to have case savers installed and drilled/tapped for full flow. Machinist said the case has issues. I see a nice new case but it's a Type 2. Damn thing looks identical except for the extra fitting down the bottom. Some sites say they are interchangable. Are they?

Great. Thanks!!! I thought that since the tin work etc. was custom it wouldn't matter. Just worried that some of my T1 parts wouldn't work.
BTW, on a T2 there's a fitting down low on the right side of the case. T1 doesn't have that. What is that? I've looked everywhere. Oil related?
Assuming pre-72 (when the T2 started with the T4 1.7L engine) - the only difference would be the rear support bolt/stud threads for the rear engine mount. Might even want to utilize these for a rear mount.

That's the oil fill/dipstick tube location for a type 3. You can either simply block it off with a plate, or if you don't have a dipstick location higher up in the case, there are type 3 to type 1 dipstick conversions to mount there.

They called this case a "Universal Case" good for Type 1, 2 or 3
