The Beech 18 Monument is on route 71 a few miles from the mentioned Go-kart track in Norway, IL.    This is a national Track.

(the address is actually Sheridan)  and if there are no scheduled races on a Sat. you can rent Karts for $30 for a 15 minute season,  $25 for the 2nd, $20 for further.

These are decent Karts, 50 mph, not beat up amusement park stuff.

However...     our actual date is still not carved in stone!        still trying to get the biggest turn-out and this could happen on the 14th,   the 21st,  or the 28th???

I can find out the race schedule for the Norway Track.   I know they were still having a large race weekend still today (Monday) as the place was full of campers with Karts on the track.

It's settled then.

The first annual Sept. Starved Rock run will be Sept 21. We'll meet at the lodge parking lot at 10:00. Chris is going to do the bulk of the planning, so I'll be in touch with him.

I'm in, Bob's in, Rich is in, Tom will be in if he doesn't sell his car. I talked to Marty last week, and he was 90% sure he was in as well.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

Awesome;    The 21st at 10 am.        The main lodge at Starved Rock state Park is about 10 minutes (max) from either I-80  or I-39.     It's kinda awkward for anyone to have a GPS in the speedster (it is in mine anyway)...    So I can actually be waiting at exit 81 on I-80 around 9:30-9:40  if anyone wants.

I plan to have printed maps for each driver.    There will be plenty of stops.

The Go Kart thing will probably have to wait for another time;   The track has an endurance race that starts at noon that Sat. 21st.

I've got most of the route plotted out,  Diner will be around 6:30 Pm at the Starved Rock Marina.  The food and views are very nice,  shorts and T-shirts are fine.    A good all-around favorite.

Haven't decided the best Lunch stop yet,  lot's of choices.           And again..  We can stop hourly for Ice Tea/ draft beer/ munchies

Sept. weather is usually very pleasant (fingers crossed)

It looks like we're a multi-state affair now, gentlemen. I just got word this AM that Allen and Bobbi Shipiro and their beautiful red IM "Ruby" will be coming to our little get-together.

Allen and Bobbi relocated to a log cabin in central Missouri this summer, and is a full 8 hours away... but within striking distance. I drove the speedster to Chicago this weekend visiting my daughter and her husband, and drove though 100 deg weather and a flash-flood to get up here-- but it was a blast.

These cars are beautiful, but they're most fun when they are driven. I say: drive 'em. September is the perfect time of year for a nice road-trip. I'm really looking forward to this!

Talked to my wife. We'll be there. I'd love to see a bunch of cars to compare, contrast and try a few seats out. Does anyone have non-speedster seats in theirs? i.e. comfortable.  I'd like to find some seats so my wife can ride in our future car without her back being in pain.

We'll let you guys have your fun and we'll go hiking. I promised her dinner.

By the way, if you're coming from the East, stop at the truck stop in Morris and go to the restaurant "R Place", go to the cashier and order some cream horns. They are made fresh there and are KILLER!!!!!!!!

Jeff
