Hey All;

I finished the simple maps,  One for each car.    I printed up a dozen.

Over the past month I've driven all the roads....   So there SHOULDN"T be any construction or unpleasant surprises.    I was hoping that some of the corn would be picked by now,  But it looks like most of the farmers are just getting ready to pick,     So we might come across a few tractors or farm machines going 7 mph.

I kinda changed the lunch location;    originally I planned for us to lunch in Morris IL.    However, Morris is the furthest East that we are going to travel Sat.   So this does not allow too much flexibilty...        So I changed the Lunch location to Duffy's Tavern in Utica, IL.              Duffy's is a (semi)famous Irish pub.   They have a dozen craft beers on tap and great burgers & appetizers.    their Erdingers Octoberfest is worth the drive alone!

We probably won't be able to all sit at one big table at Duffy's,  But that's OK...

There is actually several great bar & grilles all on the same old down town stretch (it's a tiny town) that are 80 yds apart.     Even a pretty cool old museum.

I was warned that the annual wine festival is happening at Matthiessen State Park Sat (right next door to Starved Rock)   And Utica is just a very popular stop on the river.       I was actually attracted to this as I think Utica IL.  will be a pretty happening little town at 12 noon on Sat!      There is plenty of parking and I was just going to plot out an hour for lunch....    We can all stay together,   or we can wander about?

The tour will start just outside Utica (Starved Rock Park),   We will Lunch in Utica at 12 noon...    And the tour will finish with diner at Captains Cove in Starved Rock Marina starting at 5:30 PM (or so).      This arrangement allows some flexibility if we kinda fall behind in schedule...      which is OK.        And everyone knows how to get headed home after dinner.

Weather still looks to be in the 70's and Sunny!

I'm planning on keeping the top down all day...    But have plenty of jackets and clothes in the cockpit!

Chris

Just to recap, and leave room for any last minute changes Chris might want to make:

We are meeting at the Starved Rock Lodge parking lot (not the lower lot) at 10:00 Saturday morning. Chris is going to take it from there.

Al and Bob and I will be coming up from the south-- we'll rendezvous at the Metamora McDonald's at 8 AM Saturday, and come up IL 89 to get to the park.

If any last minute guys from STL or downstate want to tag along, be at MickyD's at 8 bells, or we'll miss you.

Looking forward to it, Gentlemen.

On a side note, I have a set if Troy Sloan's cruising windows that I am not going to use. They are still in the box that they were shipped in. I believe the SOC price was $250, if anyone coming to the event Saturday wants them I can bring them along and will sell for $200.

here is Troy's ad for them.

 Porsche Speedster "Cruzin" Windows

Custom made replica Porsche Speedster windows for top down cruising.

These windows are custom made to fit replica Speedsters manufactured by Vintage Speedsters and JPS Speedsters, but may also fit CMC, FiberFab and other replica Speedster as well as original Speedsters.

They are made from a special green tinted acrylic material that makes them appear to be glass.  The green tint is barely visible when looking through the window, but very visible on the highly polished edges.  The hardware is high quality chrome plated (in the USA) stainless steel.

As mentioned, they are designed for top down cruising.  They can be used with the top up, but will not completely fill the window opening. The doors open normally with the windows installed and the windows are stable at highway speeds.

*They will fit Vintage and JPS cars without modification.  Other Speedster makes may require an additional hole drilled in the door rail at the top of the door panel for mounting.

I would think the overflow parking lot which is much larger than the lot close to the lodge.  So it is the Southeast lot. First right off the lodge access road.

I-80 east bound  travelers - Exit # 81   South Utica 178.  Travel South across the Illinois River . Make first Left  into Starve Rock Natl park. Keep to the right to the lodge.

The lower parking is right on the water an at the visitor's center. If you're there, the drive up to the lodge is a steep one but easy to do.
