IM air cleaners

Any IM owners know if Henry uses K&N air filters in his engines? My filters are flow through, but I'm not sure what brand, and I want to clean and re-oil them before the trip to Carlisle.

Robert, Henry used the K&N filters for the 44 IDF's on my 2110.

Can you recall what colour they are? I always thought K&N filters were red (perhaps mistakenly), and mine are black rubber and grey mesh.

I bought the K&N filter recharge kit.

I think the K&N's are Blk rubber with Grey mesh..........it's the stuff you spray on from the re-charge kit that's red.

Robert, as I recall (I've only look at them a thousand times!), Bryant is right. I haven't needed to recharge yet so can's say.

Got K&Ns on all four vehicles. I even made one to fit my motorcycle cause they had none for tht model. They are a grey mesh with a black rubber seal. The oil you add to the mesh is red. If it ain't red no more, clean them NOW. Get the K & N Recharge kit, or buy cleaner and recharge oil separately. Been using thses for a long time. Good product. (Trivia, '62 Vettes had foam rewashable air filters to which you applied some clean engine oil).

I once had a '52 Dodge with an "oil bath" air cleaner. That is, the air cleaner element was partially submerged in oil inside the can........I was 15, the oil looked a little low, so I topped it off.....WOW ! You should have seen the cloud of smoke behind me when I took that first turn and the oil started to pour into the carb, I didn'r know what the #%&(** was going on !

I agree with everyone else. The oil spray makes the filter screens red, just walked in from the garage and did exactly what you are about to do. Quick and easy - spray the cleaner on the filters, let stand for 10-20 minutes, rinse with the hose, shake out the water, spray the red oil.

Henry's engines are built by CB Performance and they install a K&N "look-alike" filter. Most K&N filters will have K&N on them somewhere.

Mine was built by a local Vancouver builder, who also did Ron Leonard's new engine (I think). My filters don't have any stamp/name on them.
