Im new to your site and I am trying to find a 59 IM Roadester to purchase. Do any of you think that a trip to Carlisle in April would be helpful in finding a roadester to purchase?

Not sure of the year, but one is for sale near Ontario, California. It's a project, but it's the real thing. Call Octavio, 949-572-0043. Asking $30K, but will take $25.
Good luck!
Bob
Thanks! Bob

Well, it has been reported that Henry Reisner, the man behind Intermeccanica, is planning on being at Carlisle. There will be a few Intermeccanicas there that you can have a look at, but I have no idea if there will be any for sale.

Man I love IM interiors in these colors
I missed the boat not buying FeartheYorkie's well sorted IM D. His had a 2L VW/Audi water-cooled, 914 front suspension, powder coated wheels and a soft & hardtop plus was on East coast for like $40k. Was a nice tobacco color too.

Yes you did. That was a fine automobile.
I'm getting a real good feeling about this Roaster idea.

I think they are dreaming in colour at that price.... even if it is a tinge of yellow.
It is 14 years old....
@Hair, if you do come to Carlise, instead of coming in April it would be better to come in May when the rest of us will be there. Read the Carlisle stuff under Events.
that may not be paint but the gel coat on fiberglass buffed out,,just an opinion
FYI, IM's are base coat clear coat Glasurit mostly, I have not seen a FG Gel coat on anything coming from IM. Just saying
Looks like most Intermeccanica Roadster Ds are going from 40-45k USD. I've seen several at 50+, but actual sales have been 5-10k lower than that.
-=theron
I agree Theron, not withstanding the condition of the car of course. I have found with the changing US dollar to Can, it has caused quite a lift in the used car market IMO on IM's.... It happened also the last time our dollar tanked. Currency fluctuations are a pain as they are very inflationary.
Thanks for the tip on the Carlisle dates.

What about pan based roadsters? Saw a real nice one go for 25k. Is that the price point for one? Anyone have a line on a pan based roadster either IM, cmc or fiberfab?
Paul - NOT MINE. Here's a widebody CMC with the rare roll up windows, high windshield and taller top on Samba for $18k in NY. Not a fan of the wheels but easy fix.
Yeah. Those wheels. Ugh. And I don’t think it’ll the roadsters do well with the flares. Every now and then you see one of these cmc and fiberfabs come up. Heck. I even saw one of those 359 with roadster windshield.
Roadster windshield and roll up's are nice but the flares on a Roadster just doesn't blend well. ....Go through the brakes suspension and drive train. Pull the CMC roll bar and wheels, replace the plastic windshield, body and paint, some interior changes, fit the bumpers. New Stay Fast top and 1/4 boot. This could be made nice however, just the minimal items I listed it would cost a minimum of $8,000 -$9,000 add that to the purchase and as they say on Shark Tank .......... Surprising how fast a used Speedster or even fixer upper can get to that point eh Alan.
Windshield alone is $750. Yeah. Before you know it you are in for over 25k on a cmc.
What should a Canadian-built IM Convertible D go for? It needs paint, interior, and engine removal to detail the motor compartment and the engine.
IM in Arizona have you seen this one Bob
Sometimes Patience, is your best friend and a few visits to the C&C at Carlisle of West Coast reunions will provide enough info for you to start looking. A solid used car is the best first option in my opinion if you can get close to the options you want you may never move to another car. Buying twice gets expensive

Sometimes when a car is shown here another guy snaps it up so be careful what you post for an opinion. Just saying.

I shop for the best parts prices are and have a reasonable painter available too.Still, I've invested a little less than $9.400 into the current speedster Project 48, with the ever rising costs of parts body and paint etc. it doesn't take long for it too add up.

What is "Von Bach"?
Thanks, Ray. I've looked at this one.
It's an old old repaint, and it needs total restoration. It does have a great interior, however. Also, it's a Speedster, and I'm looking for a Convertible D. Don't know who Von Bach is; some aftermarket door sill maker, I guess.
Regards,
Bob Templeton
Von Bach, who knows that answer... I have an IM- D, can't really get into a speedster.
Hmmm. LSD, 2-liter engine, roll-ups. That's not a bad deal at all, if it's as described. Agreed that going polycarbonate with the roll-ups was a mistake.

What is "Von Bach"?
Von Bach:
Von Bach was a DC Comic Book character that was defeated by Superman, the Von Bach dam near the Tugeni Resort, it's a campsite in Namibia, Gib von Bach was a cinematographer, Baron Alexander von Bach was an Australian politician, but the most likely reference for this use of the von Bach name is Von Bach Industries which manufactures a third person shooter game.
I'm not a Jeopardy contestant I just Googled von Bach. I was curious and since you asked....

That's funny, and all the potential results are why I did not Google it.
Your IM with the hardtop was a pict IM sent me when I was building mine... nice combo.
I had the hardtop on all winter I just took it off and now I’m running the soft top for the summer. With the hardtop on it feels like a coupAnd is totally weathertight.
