IM for sale on ebay

If you miss out on this car,you will kick yourself! Not mine,but I know the orignal builder. This is an exceptional example of an early Intermeccanica. Car is all original, built in 1976. Show quality! Still looks almost as good as the day it was built. This car is worthy of investigating. I would buy this car myself if I already did not own RUBY! He(or she) who hesitates, deserves to be lost!! This car was sold on ebay within the last month, and is now back on the market due to financial difficulties. Link to site:

Maybe meant to say this IM was bought as 'turn-key' car, not assembled by garage mechanic (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

As a daily reader of this forum,but seldom poster,in your opinion what kind of pricing do these older IM's command.This car looks in great shape and seems well sorted.Just curious in your or anyone else's opinion.Thanks,Tom

If I can put my two cents in.
The older IMs usually sell for more than other replicas of the same vintage. They were all built by the Reisner family, deep in automotive history. One of Frank Reisner's original cars, the Italia, can fetch upwards of $100k.
A well-sorted, early pan-based Intermeccanica can sell in the $16k+ range. I know, as a local owner recently sold her 1977 IM for that. And it was all original.
I would say that the IM featured in the Ebay ad could get pretty close to that, if not more.
Speaking of early IMs, I talked with Henry Reisner down at Morro Bay last weekend. He told me he does restorations of their early cars.
So, if you own an older IM that needs attention, or you're thinking of buying one, give Intermeccanica a call. Just think, a vintage Intermeccanica restored to like-new shape, by the IM factory.

I agree with Terrys' assessment completely. I believe that this car sold in the $17,000 range little more than a month ago. Grant it that I only know the original owner/builder of the car and the person that the car was initially sold to, but the car was in exceptional condition. The builder of this car is a highly skilled professional Porsche/VW Technician. I would not be the least bit surprised if this car sells for more than the aforementioned amount. Anyone who gets this car,is getting a gem. Car has all of the original documentation if memory serves me correctly. Tom,I do know that the mileage as stated is not correct. I don't know the original mileage. Condition,condition,condition!

Thanks guys for the feedback.It has been pretty easy to price a used IM that is only a few years old,but you just don't see many this old in the condition it is in.
I am actually headed over to see Carey Hines on Monday to look at his cars and hopefully I will be able to make a decision soon on new vs used.

Thank you for the offer,but after researching these speedsters for over a year,I know that a new IM or one that is a few years old is out of my price range.I would rather not look at something I cannot afford,so I am not thinking about what I am missing.Thanks,Tom

Tom, Carey will treat you right. PM me if you want to talk about Becks. Mine was built by some of these crazies at the '06 show, and I have returned every year since, having put on about 15k miles in three years. I also wrote Carey's owner's manual and have a pretty good insight into the cars.

Tom, if you want to check out a phat-ass Vintage give me a call. I'm in East St. Charles, IL. My car was put together well although it does not have that stiff Beck frame. Mike Norvalis has a nice Beck in the south burbs. I hope to meet up with Mike this summer.
