I am happy to report that, according to the 10-day forecast, it would be prudent to also pack some sunscreen, Jim, because the weather looks A+ for Saturday and Sunday!
I'm very glad you're making the trip; it will be really good to see you face-to-face.

Everyone please drive carefully...looking forward to quite an amazing turnout for our First Annual Replica Rendezvous.

Jim,

After checking my list of stuff to take, I now realize why the luggage racks are a sought after item. I think one is in my future. No way could two fit on the way down, coming back Ron L. will supplement the one way stuff, at least to Fresno. Ron, hope you're traveling light, LOL. We should be OK.

I have one of the stickers on the front of my Speedy, right under the PORSCHE emblem. Figure it serves two purposes, advertises the show and
stops bugs and gravel, hopefully!

A friend back East just dropped me an E mail and mentioned that Revel has brought out 1/25 scale Corvette with figures of Todd and Buzz. If you have time you could glue it together and put it on the luggage rack!

Check out the new Tag Topper I made this a.m., inspired by John Leader's cool looking front RR Tag. The tools and spare parts are packed, I sprayed a clear satin over the old beat up suitcase with hotel decals that I use for towels, and detail stuff and mount onto the luggage rack. The fold up chair is in with clamp on umbrella, and I'm debating whether to haul the canopy... hell I'm packed big as it is. Three tops (vert 1/4, full) are on board. Right now I'm washing two favoprite hats, and am sorting through a few Ts, a coupla jeans, shorts and picking a Hawaiian shirt out to take along. Need to throw in a jacket and gloves to get through Flagstaff early in the morning at or below freezing.... but all and all, I am ready..... camera, binocs, map, and my route inbound etched on my mental map, including the side route on OLD 66 in Arizona! Oh, and Bruce/John I have a raffle prize.

Anyway, I thought the Tag Topper might raise some Qs at gas and food stops. Maybe there's an enthusiast hidden behind the wheel of a mini-van out there that will be inspired! I found one yesterday at a batteries only store... young man, who reads Kit Car EVERY Month. I promised to bring him back tons of pics! BTW Congrats to The East Meet for the nice write up in KCM. Knotts ran a good add too!

I was planning on being at Knotts around 7:00 or 7:30 I read that they are letting us in around 7:00 am. I am staying at the hotel just so I can spend more time getting to know the drivers. I was actually thnking about trailering the car. I have spent 3 days cleaning the under carriage and engine, what do you think. I the VW world people bag on you and call you a trailer queen. WOuld not want to embarass you by trailering my car :)
Lance, I'm not sure my wife would be able to relate to our enthusiasm, and trying to explain to her why I need a hotel room 30 miles from home would probably raise more questions than answer, LOL!. I appreciate your hard work and attention to detail in preparing your car for the show, however I've had my share of restored show cars and quite frankly, burned myself out. The intensity to be truly competitive in concours events was at odds with just having fun and talking to others with the same interests. Please look me up when I get there as I will probably have the only meissen blue Vintage Speedster.
Guess I am alittle excited about this. I have worked really hard on this car and only people locally have seen the car. I have not even made too many long distance trips with it yet. Only 60 miles on the odometer. After having it out there for awhile I plan to drive the heck out of it.
I look ofrward to meeting up with you all.
Thanks for the feedback
Hey Lance.... just drive it and then park it next to mine. Three years of chips, scratches, and as MM, El Paulo says, it has a certain pattina (sp?). Yours will already look perfect, next to mine it'll look even more perfect, or something.

Looking forward to meeting you and checking out your new ride!
Jim, really sorry to hear about your troubles trying to get the tub ready for the marathon road trip. If I didn't know better I would swear that all those things would happen to an anal guy like me, not a laid back guy like you. Ha Ha. Man, as things heat up for this shin-dig I'm really enving (sp) you. This is the REAL route 66! Drive safe and God Speed. Eddie
Dale, Jim, et.al.

I have given up trying to give my Roadster as many bells and whistles on my car, having now seen the Rendevous plate topper and Dale's front end.
No wonder Dale walks with the people's choice trophy every year. Maybe Jim will give him some competition this year. Work is busy right now, I will try to get up there on one of the two days either on my new Vespa (Orange County's where I live-it's a real stretch, like 20 miles!) (or maybe the Intermeccanica). Knock on wood that everyone's trip is trouble free. Good luck.
