Marty, I've had the same problem with mine. It's all in how you start your fold. Don't start folding from the front (nearest the windshield header). Start folding from the second folding mechanism. The front section is actually the last part you fold (at least it is on mine).

My roll bar and Schroth four point seat belts (which mount to a steel support behind the rear bulkhead) make lowering my top a real PITA.
I also have to strap my top down, because at speeds over 75 mph the top starts to rise up on its own. First time it happened it scared the heck out of me.
It's way too high. The second picture (the big one is also too high. On my 2004 IM the edge of the front bow fits just below the top of the rear deck. It can be tricky. If you're doing it correctly it will go right in. If you're fighting it, you're not doing it right. If you're interested I can take some sequential pics tomorrow and post them.
