Hi Boys and Girls, Its painted!!!! Nassau/Marina mid-sixties Corvette blue. I will post pics as Henry sends them. Been waiting for this day. Now its all about assembly. Mr. Davis's car is well documented, (I wished I could visit on a whim!) Mine is next in the cue. Went to Sarasota DMV with documents in hand, left somewhat disappointed. It seems that I presented said auto as a fully constructed Replica, that's a no, no. The State dosen't recognize the MSO as coming from a legitimate car company. So it wont title it. It would, if you bring a title from another state, which has recognized the car. Simple title transfer is all. They will issue a title if the car is termed a "KIT", and needs some assembly within the state, which can then be inspected for road worthiness by DMV inspectors. Oh well, back to DMV on Friday. Hope it turns out better the second time around.

NO problem, Howard. Drop the car and the MSO off with me. I'll title it. Of course, it will have to be in my name. Oh, and I'll need to DRIVE it to the DMV.... Oh and then I'd have to drive it to Florida (or is it NJ?), you know, just to make sure everything is OK...hehehe

Howard,
IM is a legitimate car company. They have been in business for decades. Try another DMV, another person. Best days for DMV are tuesday, wednesday or thursday EXCEPT on 3 day weekends.

Go in the morning, be relaxed and take your time. Each state has their foibles, but you have much going in your favor. Unlike most of us, who buy cars from companies who, how shall I say this... lack IM's long term stability and history... You have a REAL car that is coachbuilt for a highly established manufacturer.

Chat up w/Henry and get it done. That said, I had a title for a car from NJ that was lost and I can categorically state that NJ was MOST unhelpful!

Hi again, Thanks for all the wonderful feedback. Brooks, Henry said you were by the shop and liked it. I haven't as yet seen photos, but the color is exactly the one posted in this thread. The blue stingray. In sunlight, it s at its most brilliant. I loved that color since I was a boy spying my neighbor, making out in his driveway. He was not a good lookin guy, it MUST have been the Vette. But that Blue always stayed with me. Seeing them sold at auction wetted my appetite. I will go back to DMV on Friday armed with new info. This time I should be successful.Henry and I have been in contant touch about all matter of this build. I have to say I can't imagine doing it without his expertise. The DME brain is going to Steven Wong for remapping, MKExhaust, is fabricating a custom two in/one out center per shooter outlet. This 3.2 puppy should breathe. Yes its exciting, can you tell?
Dale, Im just stubborn is all. "I" decided that the leather should be a light beige "sand" color, I know, I know, you all thought it will be difficult to keep, but, its a weekend toy, 4-5k miles a year, and I do keep my toys clean, the house, well that's a different story, as Madeline can testify. She might be soon, too, if this car gets any more expensive! Back to DMV, its interesting that FLA makes a distinction between "KIT" and REPLICA. Kit being partially assembled, and titled in the year the frame/drivetrain was "mated". Replica, or "reproduction" is a complete car, made to resemble and existing model, say 1957 Porsche Speedster. Must come from a Licensed manufacturer, and would be titled for the year it represents. Much better, antique plates and all. The catch is the state must recognize Interemeccanica International, as a legit builder, get this, Licensed to do business in Florida. How stupid!Im going to ask Henry to send me some type of document which clarifies his legitimacy and hope the state of FLORIDA will recognize it. I'll keep you posted. Some of our speedstowners "brothers" have suggested more clandestine avenues, should this fail. I'll keep you posted.
Angela, Interesting you should ask. IM has issued an MSO, with its own VIN#. If its a "kit" then the state needs to inspect it for road worthiness. IM has given me documentation which lists the US DOT specifications for approval, glass, locks, carpets, which are requried by the US DOT for import to the US. As "replica", it does NOT require a formal inspection. That's why i would rather register the car in FLA, becuase NJ would require me to go for emissions, requirements, whereas Fla doesn't. In NJ , as you experienced makes life difficult.
That is exactly what we are going to do with my Steve's 3.2 in his 911 cabby, except that we left the 02 sensor. We have the euro pre-muffler already installed and a nice Dansk 2 out stainless muffler. After we have the car running, we'll do the Steve Wong chip.

This is GOOD stuff Howard!

Howard,

If you get the car done and going to drive it home, Angela and I are running the Southern Oregon Tour in and around Medford, Or on Oct. 5-7. A laid back driving tour in our beautiful weather and on our scenic roads. There will be various Replicars on the tour, including Angela and Steves 550-6.
It would be great to have you stop in and run it with us. I am sure everyone would love to meet you and the IM.

Tomm, Henry works at his own pace to get it right. I know you are aware that his builds are the standard of the industry. NO ONE comes close, and the "other" manufacturers KNOW it. But there are two Premiums to be paid here. $$$$$$ and waiting. Prod gently, because it will get done when its done. But it will be right. I know its ok for me to say, Henry sent me photos of my BLUE monster yesterday. Wait till you see the stuff you like, no hurry to collect the bits, until you see something you like, at the right price. Give my regards to your wife. I have some great shots from the tour.
I started the thread railing about the "MAN" at Florida DMV. Well, I went back on Friday, and.......Wala!!!! Walked out with a "Replica" 1957 Porsche Speedster/convt/blue title. The distinction between a KIT car, and Reproduction/Replica is significant. The former is titled in the year built(2007) subject to whatever safety/emissions requirement are in vogue, the latter is the year in which vehicle represents the year of the original. No emissions required. Not only that, but it qualifies for "antique or historic" tags. How COOL! Now if I can only figure out how to post the photos Hnery sent me, I wont have to wear diapers!
Hey Howard, this thread is fun but I wonder if you could move your posts with the photos and future posts about the car under "Vendor Specific" as that seems to be where the new projects hang out. You could follow a title trend and call your thread " It's Blue"... or "IM Blue" or...??
I'm into Vancouver Tuesday and look forward to seeing your new paint.
