Decided to leave the madness (at least temporarily). This is #398 of the original 608 Intermeccanica Speedsters built in the factory in CA. It was built in 1979 on a 1969 vw pan. The original owner here near Annapolis had a 1776cc mexican aftermarket engine installed. He wanted it to look authentic so it has some brushed AL trim and the gelcoat was allowed to age. It has dual 40 kadrons, a mild cam, monza exhaust, and an irs rear. In the 2 years I've had it I've fixed/added: front disc brakes, most front suspension parts, rebuilt both carbs, elect ignitn, empi shifter, oil cooler seals, tail lights, door rubber, some carpet sections, and got the 914 odo working. I enjoyed the 2014 gathering at Carlisle. I shined up the body some, but it still has a few stains and areas where Henry said they added tape to reinforce the fender lips. This is a well sorted driver that looks like a nonrestored original. Asking $ 17k/ bo

Wow... Tough crowd.

Rusty, did some posts get cut?
I don't think so. Just surprised there are no comments on this car.
I thought I would have gotten more interest by now, but we'll see what the weekend brings.
Put it on SAMBA (It's free) -- most folks here already have a Speedster/Spyder.
I figured I'd give it a week or so here first. See if any newbies or lurkers would want to take the plunge. With ebay, cl, and even the samba, people are sometimes starting at ground zero.
I'm interested...
just thinking tho..
Rowan, are you the lad that attended Carlisle last year and we had a conversation in the hotel parking lot about your Speedster and mine were among the oldest living IM's on the road ? Yours was a hair older than mine.
I'm also amazed this hasn't seen more action. It's priced spot on for the market with a little room for negotiation.
I'd put it on the samba.
Ted
David, Yes. That was me. Glad you got yours back on the road and are doing OK. Didn't make this years event because of poor calendar management (had wedding reception). Maybe next year with this car, or something else.
Rowan, are you referring to Annapolis, California or Annapolis, MD?
Sorry, didn't know there was another Annapolis. Maryland is where I am
I have had some requests for more pix from samba so here they are. Tags and insurance run out the end of July so dropping asking price to $15,000/bo. Pictures outside of garage are generally better too.

I've used American Car Transporters, 1-844-319-6030 with good results, rigs are clean and well cared for, drivers are very professional and courteous and treat your car as if it were their own, licensed and bonded. The company also carries a 5 star rating from Carriers Reviews.
The enclosed rigs they've used for me were stackable 4-car units, smaller than open transport rigs. They were a little more expensive than some other companies yet came highly recommended. I used them to ship 4 cars from WA to CO when we moved here and used them to ship 2 cars from AZ to WA when we moved to WA. My friends and I also used them twice to ship our Cobra's to and from WA to OH for a big Cobra event. The driver picked up all our cars a few days before the event, drove to OH, and we flew out there to meet him. At the end of the event we loaded the cars back up and flew back home and the driver arrived a couple days later with the cars for drop off. If I ever ship another car I will use them.
Just my experience with a good company....
Thanks for your feedback, G.R.

It's always a risky thing to ship a car via commercial transport. Best bet is to have a qualified long range driver just drive it to the destination for direct cost....IMHO :-)
Are you volunteering, David?

Always trying to help where I can, Laner... :-)
Awesome..
There is an intermeccanica waiting for you to be driven from GA to CA / San Francisco. =)
Farsea:
Glad you found an Intermeccanica. I'm only sorry mine could not have been available.
Thanks, Bob.
No worries.. Even though this is my first IM, it won't be the last one.
I will wait in line until you decide to trade in your 2015 IM for a newer one. =)
Thanks, Bob.

I think Bob will have this one until he can no longer drive.
That's the plan, Ron, but we'll see...
# 37 aka "Red Rider" is at my shop.....interesting solid old bones older IM.

Go get 'em, Doc.
I hope it's only minor surgery, or should that be 'plastic surgery'?
"37"needs to sit a bit, finishing up a NJ owners speedy by mid week, then a week vacation WV followed by doing a top, full tonneau and quarter boot for a local owner.
Then get into 37. After the first of the year I'll be available to do speedster work at my home shop too.
Went through "Project 37" today, solid old bones rust free pan based car but it certainly needs a boat load of misc. work with details to follow.
In mid August it will get fresh red paint, most new bright work items, emblems and make a nice IM at a very reasonable price.....
Shoot me a dialog if you might be interested.
Decided to speed things up a bit it's getting painted this week, mostly new bright work and more wrenching.
