I was looking at my 3rd eye today in the mirror, and it wasn't acne conglobata 
On my car that is and it seems on my IM there is no wire going to the light except from both metal or cast hinges. Is it possible that the two engine hinges are being used as a positive and negative to activate the light... Does anyone know? Pretty cool if I say so myself.

I’ve been looking up and down I still can’t find the wire going to the hinges Lol
I haven’t checked it out but I think the right side is hot and the left is ground.

The one hinge is ground and the other is 12v, you'll probably find the wires attached to the back side of hinge mounting brackets.

the passenger hinge ot right gets the feed Zoom in and see the blueconnector which is attached to the red wire
To confirm i ran my test lightt with a bunch of feetof wire and grounded it under the dash press the brake pedal and voila we have light ... Henry that is cool
I discovered that a few years ago when working on a IM I had a test light alligator clamp on a ground and by accident touched the hinge and the deck lid light came on ...... HUH ?
