I am still looking for an IM 15 years or older. Air Cooled/ Liquid Cooled( if they were even available back then ), and either roadster or speedster is fine.  My lovely state exempts all cars 15 years or older from emissions and it is a bear to get them done with newer replicas.  I have owned two IM's before, one I bought and one I built (Subaru).  I am a real buyer not just a tire kicker.

Thanks

Chris

Hey, Chris - Long time, no posts!

A guy in Waltham documented the process he successfully used to register a relatively new (2016) Seduction 550 Spyder in Mass.  Yes, it's a bear in this state - almost insane, but it CAN be done with a lot of perseverance and the right guidelines.  I've attached a PDF of his process.  It has also worked for, roughly, 8 Hot Rods/Cobras that I know of thus far, too.

Stand easy, Stanley....  :-)  Mine's staying put for a while but I've got two others at arm's length if the need arises.

Whew!

Slight confession too. Trying to put together 7,000 Euros from OPM for a Verner 5 cyl. radial. Youtube Verner Radial for a laugh. 3,5,7 cyl. now available and  9 cyl coming soon. A whole new world for replica and restored aircraft. There's lot's of old flying and projects out there but few engines and fewer parts for them available. These engines may change things and put more old stuff into reality again.

Dave:  Massachusetts doesn't give a rat's pitootie about where a car comes from.  And they automatically assume that it is a polluter if you ask for an emissions waiver (They also assume that it was made from stolen car parts, but that's another story).

The only thing they seem to care about is not increasing the carbon output by one more old, polluting car on our roads, so if you want to register a relatively new "special interest" car here that replicates an original,  you must first buy a pre-1975 running (and recently registered) car of the same or larger displacement, get it crushed for the salvage title as proof that it's gone, then apply that salvage title to the new(er) car for an emissions exemption.

As you can imagine, several people are now scooping up all of the registered pre-'74's they can find and are asking north of $3 grand for them.  Work is afoot to change this rediculous law, but the wheels of change in Massachusetts turn ever slowly (except when they voted this stupid law in after midnight when they had a quorum +2 legislators).

I don't blame Chris for taking his route - It makes a lot of sense.
