The problem is a D has a taller windshield and is square in its upper corners.  It has to be a stock 356 windshield or a cut down one.

The Porsche 356A Convertible D was manufactured for the 1959 model-year only. Easily identified by chrome windshield posts that are bigger and higher than the Speedster, and by the two upper corners making an angle with the top of the chrome frame (rather than the rounded corners of the Speedster)

Stoddard lists the D/Roadster vs Speedster windshield (ouch, price is like $900 for D). The D/Roadster one indeed measures  13 7/8" high at center (the Speedster an inch shorter).  They carry clear and tinted. (In Victoria, BC - you're so close to IM - would think they could get one for you and save boxing/US to Canada shipping issues).
