While I was visiting Henry he showed me a very nice, three speed blower that mounts under the dash. It takes hot air from the heater boxes (from the heat tubes going up to the windshield) and either dumps it out the center of the car, down by your feet, or routes the hot air up to the windshield. Very nice ($200 Canadian). He also mentioned that a good way to increase your heat was to put some insulating boards along the heating channel, underneath the car. Henry said that this long channel really sucks the heat out the the hot air as it travels to the cabin area.

I've been pondering this problem. I have a 2002 IM. The problem I've found this past winter (I drive everyday I can get out of the drive )with the fan that Henry provides is that the fan "pulls" the air and seems to "fight" with the motor fan. This next winter I'm considering disconnecting the hoses from the motor fan shroud and connecting them to a seperate fan mounted in the motor compartment and see if this improves the air flow. Has anyone found an "electric" heating element that could be used????
Jordan, are you saying that the IM front fan doesn't work that well? I'd like to be sure before I buy one. I'm confused with your statement that the front fan pulls, the motor fan pushed and they act against each other? I thought that a pull and a push in the same direction would be a good thing.

Ron,

Your correct, that does sound confusing. Henry's fan system works very well. The conflict, to me, is when driving...at slow speed the fan system is "pulling" more than the motor fan, at high speed the motor fan is "pushing" more....I wouldn't replace Henry's system, I am going to try and remove the motor fan from the heating system.
