In LA where to inspect/pressure test a new speedster b4 driving it toTexas

Considering buying a new aircooled speedster in LA and driving back to TX

There is a very nice used IM speedster for sale on this site, at a great price.

the IM for sale on this website is gorgeous, but I am leaning more towards a custom built speedster.

My wife and I bought a New 2011 Vintage last Febuary. We picked it up in LA drove to Santa Barbara for a short shake down and then on to Texas. We now have over 10,000 miles on it and it's been Coast to Coast. Other than a Tach that bit the dust all I've done is timing and clean carbs.

Great feedback Jay ! On a side a note, Did you do the TX paperwork yourself? How difficult was it to go through registration and inspection. Did you have to pay sales taxes in CA or TX?

Zdouga, not sure how many Speedster's you have been in or what you mean by custom, but that low milage IM for sale (black/tan) is what many of us consider the high end of the Replica 356 world. The same car for sale would cost you $60,000.00 to duplicate so its a steal with 11K on the ODO. If you like the color I would go and check it out.

the Texas DMV gave us paperwork so that we did not have to pay Calif tax...we got a Calif registration/title with the car listing it as a 57VW.
Texas registered it as a 57VW. Very Easy!!!

By the way, I did tell them I was buying a 57VW....may be a little gray but not un-true.

We are in a very small town...we just went into the office and asked them what to do. They where very friendly and it all went very smoothly....don't know what it would be like in the city.
