I'm considering these as well but in white powder coat. My preference is the wide 5 lug conversion but I'm starting to question the $$$ that I have been putting into this car.
Rusty..."starting to question" = "welcome to the madness" But you knew that
It is madness Rich. I fricken get it now. It was madness when I wrote the check to Will I just didn't realize it yet!
There are clips on the wheels to secure the chrome hubcaps which fit on the inside of the inner lip. I hope the clips survive sandblasting and powder coating. These wheels will not look exactly like early 60s wide 5s but I'm just not willing to spend that kind of money for rear brake replacement etc. just to change to wide 5s. Close enough. 4 wheels and 4 hub caps with delivery $470. Another $300 for powder coating.
The clips are riveted on.
Yes, we powder coat these wheels all the time and the clips and buck rivets hold up to sandblasting and powdercoat.
Why didn't you have them powder coat before delivery?
My wife is an interior decorator and gets metal things powder coated all the time. Precision powder coating in VA Beach does a great job. Who else could get the wife to take wheels for powder coating. Carey also would have sent them out. Wheel maker will only powder coat in silver.
He would not send them unpainted though?
Talked to Precision and they told me that it didn't matter whether wheels were bare metal or powder coated. They would still be sand blasted and results would be the same. Carey did tell me that his supplier would not powder coat in black. Obviously getting them in black would be nice and would save me the $300 powder coat charge.
