Ron, my car has the fairly lightweight CB Perf. 4 wheel disk setup and the Brembo disks have been cross-drilled. Add the 10 lb. Bivens aluminum wheels and the unsprung weight isn't too bad.

Inboard rear disks would be nice but require some careful fabrication and I doubt it would be worth the effort and cost for anything but an all-out roadracer.
Hello
I'm also looking for info on the inboard disc brake setup. I remember seeing such a setup on a midengined vw powered buggy. I have to look at the AlfaRomeo inb. d.brk. setup. In order to get some clearance for the discs an IM type chassis arangement would be usefull (no VW frame horns for engine/gearbox mounting). Together with Mahle Gasburner wheels the unsprung weight would be very low. For the frontend AP racing four pot calipers with ventilated Kerscher discs would be a great and costly option (the AP calipers weigh only one third of the beetle calipers!!!) With those modifications the Speedster should offer much more improved handling and breaking.
Does any one have some pics or info on inboard brake setup on a VW transaxle?
Ahmet, a good set of gas burners (9.9 lb. magnesium Mahle) will be hard to find and expensive - a couple of months ago I sold a very nice set of five for $1,500, and that was a bargain for the buyer. If you find some you like check them out carefully for damage or repairs.

Alex Bivens makes 15" 356 replica aluminum wide-five wheels that weigh 10 lb. (in the 5.5" and 6" widths), and also makes 7" and 8" widths. They run $500 to $600 each and should be stronger than gas burners.
