Greetings,

I threw an alternator belt and had to drive a way, is to get to a safe pull off. By that time, the engine had overheated and was smoking. Restarted nicely after installing new belt. Oil is still honey colored, and does not smell smoky. But I have a problem and that’s the RPMs have fallen from around 8 or 9 to 6 and at stops the oil light comes on. I need to increase the engine RPMs. I have Spanish webers.

I have Spanish webers.  Can anybody walk me through which screws to turn and how much to ease it up?  Or a previous post that covers this nicely for a non-mechanic?

Bearings could be about to seize which could ruin case/crank --- and your day!  Draining oil might show brassy stuff from bearings.

X2 !     Do Not drive or run the engine until you have someone who actually knows what they are doing diagnose the issue.  At this point guessing, assuming & tinkering can be a costly error of judgement. In the future if you lose a belt....................

Stop Engine, Mandatory Sign with the Symbol of Ignition Key Stock ...

Sounds like my wife. The car is making a noise, turn the radio up(or the throttle stop srews?). LOL!

If the engine is not idling the same speed and hasn't been touched(other than the overheat) then there is definitely a problem.

It could be just a valve adjustment, but that's not likely.

Like a rebuild, maybe a crank, rods, etc...there are LOTS of things to check from overheating a motor.
