Does anyone out there have stone guards installed on their headlights with the glass lens still in place? I bought a pair from Fibersteel and according to Russ, they are designed to replace the glass lens, but can be installed over the glass lens. He says that Kirk at VS does it all the time. So far, I have spent a good 3 hours trying to make them fit, but there just doesn't seem to be any way.
These are the type with vertical guards (not the mess type). They have two flanges at the top that slip under the chrome headlight ring. I can get them in there, but they don't fit flush against the ring (like they would without the glass lens installed) and they force the headlight back into the shell. Anybody know a secret about making these things fit and look good too? Or, should I just send them back?

when i installed mine i thought the same thing. But they don't fit absolutely perfect.

take the glass out,
loosen the lights,
hook in the tabs,
be ready with the screws

it's an easy install - although one of my screws was not threaded - I was lucky i had a tap / die set to correct that.
