I dig that steering wheel. What is it?
It's stock vw pre 1960 with an after market Porsche Horn button....
1956 with turn signal assembly.
the horn button is actually a stoddard enamel hub cap emblem that fits perfectly inside the OEM VW horn button.

I won't bug you or hijack your thread again, what shifter is that? Thanks!!!!
no worries my friend - this is why i post. :)

Mango, that's outstanding! Congratulations on winning first in your first show!
Brilliant job of sorting all the details out along the way; I think your car will escape the electrical gremlins that plague the rest of us along the course of its lifetime as result of careful, methodical planning.
Great effort, beautiful results!

How long is that shifter? I see similar shifters for $300! Why? I'm digging that look/style.
Where did you get the model car hanging off your rear view ?
thanks Cory.
i just had it tuned and it runs AWESOME and stops so well. not one electrical issue either i might add :)
the shifter is just a VW stock item. i'd happily sell it for $300, but then i couldn't look at myself in the mirror. expect to pay more for the paint and shift knob than the shifter:

i had to drill/tap the early shift knob to work on the later shifter.
re: the model: i bought the little 356 as a '58 i believe (locally on an online classified site). of course i couldn't leave well enough alone and redid it to match my car (with beehives, etc) - and printed my own packaging.

On my speedster the wires that run under the dash come in right next to the steering wheel column. I want to have them more hidden. Where do yours run?
down the passengers side frame support / 'heater' tube, then along the body by the door.
