Installing bumper guards

Hi all,

My Vintage Speedster bumper guards just came in & now I am faced with the problem of installation. It looks like I have to drill through the chrome strip on the bumper & the rubber strip. Does this sound right? Where is the correct placement for these guards? Do you just put a nut in back once they are in place? Thanks!

You're right on the installation; that's how they are installed in mine. I'd say get some front and back shots of the cars, measure and eyeball.....Good luck!

Hmmm.... Do they go right in front of the bumper brackets, or to the side?

Suggestion for the front. Borrow someone's speedster bra with cut outs for bumper guards. Mount the guards where the holes are. In the rear, compare or get someone's dimensions. This way if you or the future owner chosses to use a bra, it will probably fit.

The CMC installation manual says use the outer holes in the bumper brackets but compare dimensions with a pro done car just to make sure.

I had to make my own brackets (Gordon's old bumpers) and have yet to mount my guards. Would anyone with guards installed be willing to measure in from the tips of the bumpers to the outside edge of the guard, right and left sides, front and rear bumpers and post the measurements? I could use the help too . . . although I never realized it 'til now . . .

TC, I tried to measure (it's hard trying to do that with a metal tape measure, especially because the bumper curves). I got around 19" on both sides of the rear bumper from the outer edge of the guard to the tip of the bumper as you requested. The front ones come out to around 22". Hope this helps.

Thank you ! I really appreciate the effort and measurements. Next time, just use a piece of string or masking tape, mark it and measure it AFTERWARDS. Don't risk scratching the paint with a metal tape measure on my account . . .
