Hi Troy, not a big deal, I just took my time & followed the instructions (I know, not a very manly thing to do) and had it installed in 45 min. It will make a huge diff. in the way your car handles. If you havn't already, now is a good time to ditch those 1.65 Continentals tires that come std. on Vintage. I replaced mine with 1.86.65 Goodyear Potenza's. Next srep, an oversized front sway bar. All together it's almost like having a new car.
OK guys I'll answer them all. The best price after checking around is from Calif. Import Products (www.cip1.com). Part number ACC-C10-4041 $59.95. Ordered it last week and got it yesterday. Looks like good quality. Vince I have 185s not 165s. I think Stacey was just telling his story. Anyway wife is away for the weekend so It is under the car for me this weekend.

George; check out the latest issue of Hot VW's; you'll find lots of suppliers there or hit the classifieds at The Samba (I've found great stuff at great prices from a guy in LA called Steve Serrano; he's got it all too). I'd say Bugpack and EMPI are very much comparable in terms of price.
Just a thought Troy, jack the car up and remove the ramps so the rear suspension is not loaded. The rear wheels will droop and you should not need to compress the "spring". See if that works. Again, I have never installed one so no guarentees. BE SAFE and block the car up. Or drop a dime and call the vendor you bought it from.
Troy, use the ramps. It is important that the car be supported by the rear wheels & tires and not on the frame.
Clean the bottom and sides of the differential housing and axel tubes. Locate and remove the two lower side cover nuts on each side of the differential housing. Install bracket so that the four slots fit over the four exposed studs. Push the bracket up as far as it will go. When it's in it's proper place the bracket will contact the transmission case around the drain plug. Put the four 5/16" washers over the studs and replace the four stock nuts. Torque to 25 ft. lbs.
Bolt the two axel pads on to the leaf spring. Install the 5/16" washers and 5/16" nuts and tighten to 15 ft. lbs.
Push the red bearing into the bracket. Grease the outside of the spacer and push it into the bearing. Center the bearing/bracket assembly on to the leaf spring. Bolt the assembly to the leaf springs using two 3/8" bolts, four 3/8" washers and two 3/8" nuts. Torque the bolts to 50 ft. lbs.
Place the leaf spring assembly onto a floor jack. Jack the assembly up towards the bracket. CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY IS DIRECTLY BELOW THE BRACKET BEFORE JACKING, The axel tubes should fit inside the axel pads. Continue jacking upwards until the spacer in the bearing bracket assembly fits between the ears of the bracket. The holes in the ears on the bracket should line up with the spacer. PLace the 3/8" washer on the 3/8" bolt and push the bolt thru the ears on the bracket and sleeve. Place another 3/8" washer and 3/8' nut on the end of the bolt and torque to 50 ft.lbs.
Lower car to ground.
Check all nuts and bolts after the first 500 miles to be sure they are still tight.
