I just requested a quote from Hagerty on my new 2003/1958 IM Speedster. The quote was very reasonable, but I think that the Bodily Injury (BI) insurance ($15k/person,$30k/accident) and $10k for property damage (PD) is way too low in this day and age! Perhaps that is why the cost is so low? The don't seem to have options for higher insurance, at least not on their web site. I have normally gotten $300k/$500K for bodily injury and $50K for property damage, and some people might consider that too low.

Anyone gotten insurance with Hagerty or elsewhere with a resonable dollar value for BI and PD?

Hey Brian, the two Ronnies are at the bar and we've started a tab in your name. It's Saturday...where are you?...Oh, wait, you're coming on Sunday...that's okay, we'll just sit here and wait (and drink and drink and drink.....
Ron
P.S. We're only drinking the good stuff...because you're worth it.
That's strange...they've let us charge all kinds of stuff to your room. They said they had your credit card on file and the room was paid for already. It would be a shame to let it go to waste. Well, off to dinner...they have a nice restaurant at the Fairmont...we'll just charge it to your room along with everything else.

See you tomorrow.
Hey Ron, did you see all that cool stuff in the mini fridge? I think it's free...isn't it...oh well, put it on the bill.
Ron
Dress warmly, Brian. It's just above freezing here. Weather forcast for Monday is sunny and cold. If your new IM has heater boxes, then a heavy, warm jacket is needed, along with gloves.
Yeah, the forum members are special....special needs. (If you are new to the site I am just joking). We really had a great time with Brian and his wife. And Brian was nice enough to let me drive his car this morning. That car really goes! It looks awesome too.

After driving Brian's car, Ron and I have decided to offer a new service as well as maximum rpm setting. We will be offering roll bar testing starting with George's car. Unfortunately this type of testing is somewhat destructive, but you will each feel much safer knowing that your roll bar has been tested and approved by the two Ronnies.
I'll have you know that and I were on our best behavior while having drinks with Brian and his lovely wife, at the Vancouver Hotel.
Ron and I had a drinking contest (attempting to entertain our guests) and I have to tell you that can't hold his liquor. He started to slur his words and drool, and he tried to get the waitress to arm wrestle...and that was before he had his first drink!
Really, we had a super great time. People on this forum are special.
I got my coverage thru USAA for for $524/year. Value at $43,500 with $300k/500k bodily injury and $50k property damage. Also have a $2MM umbrella under another policy with them. Down side is the car is valued at actual cash value rather than stated value.

PS. I posted some pictures of new car. The wheel covers are from a Roadster, but Henry is replacing them with Speedster version. Badging and script not yet installed.
Thanks so much to the "Ronnies" for keeping my bar tab under my credit card limit! And a special thank you to Ron Leonard for test driving the car and establishing the RPM rev limit! Thank goodness the car is leaving Canada before they institute their roll bar testing program.
This California guy has used State Farm (reasonable cost, never had a claim, insured as 71VW kit car with stated value). I am currently with AAA only because we combined all our insurance and took advantage of the $1M umbrella policy (worth a lot more dead than alive now!). AAA charges a bit more for this vehicle, but with all everything included (homeowners, car, truck, motorcycle, etc) the bottom line total came out a bit cheaper. AAA is still "stated value" , but they insured it as a 71 Porsche Speedster - go figure.
FYI, it's licensed in CA as a smog exempt 71 VW.
Hey guys I was just going over the site, I am a future speedster owner doing some research. Just wanted to let you know, I work at Aon Collector Car Insurance, we've got really good rates, no appraisals needed and you can even take your car to work from time to time. No yearly mileage limit either, the only thing we can't do is the daily driver folks. aoncollectorcar.com
