Is it your second car or is it an extra car....it is extremely difficult to insure if it is your primary car and you have no other.

If you change over to State Farm they do it for about 280 a year with it not being your primary car and 25,000 agreed value. If you indicate your going to drive the car a lot (6000) miles are more they will want to see that you have more cars then drivers in your household. They expect you won't drive a special car in bad weather and lets face it you probably don't want to either.
George,

Haggerty asks that it not be a primary car plus having it be kept in a locked garage, think 2500 miles a year is asked for, however that is largely unenforceable. You may try J.C. Taylor, they insure collectable cars and again have some of the same restrictions as Haggerty. Try your regular car insurance company, many of them insure collectables. Try an independent insurance broker, they can shop around for you and hopefully find you the best deal.

There is an IM owner on this site from the Boston area. I think I have his e-mail and/or name still in some old mail files. I'll look him up later as I am sure he is a member of this site. Hopefully I'll find the old mail and get you in contact with him... surely he can help you with some info for Mass.
I moved recently from California to Boston and brought my Vintage Speedster with me. My wife and I only have one other car, so the Speedster is considered as 'primary' car for insurance companies like Haggerty.
I have both cars insured with AAA (they insure with Commerce Insurance) - maybe more expensive, but without any troubles. I gave them all the paperwork and they went to the DMV/RMV and got the cars insured. I then had the Speedster appraised and I am in the process of adjusting my premium.

Hope this helps,

Andreas
Just the mention of the name "Hagerty" brings back bad memories for me. I applied for coverage with them, and once I got down to the fine print on the policy, it seemed as though the only thing it covered was damage to the car, while in a locked garage, or on the way to a club event. They claim to afford coverage for some 'casual driving' but then exclude anything for which your primary car could have been used. What the heck does that mean? I suppose you could even use your primary car to go to a club event - although it would be like going to the prom without a date -- but you could do it. A drive around the block could be in a primary vehicle too. It's like lending you an umbrella but forbidding you to use it if it is even cloudy outside. I was more concerned about them disclaiming coverage for a liability claim. Collision claims I could fight over, but a liability claim without coverage is a potential disaster. And, the people at Hagerty had a real attitude problem when it came to actually discussing the details of the coverage you're buying. Go with a regular insurance company, and a stated value for the car. It's a lot more money, but I like the peace of mind.
