My Farmers agent wont write it because its a kit car.. even though it titled as 69 bug convertible, he said he cant write it.

We've had the spyder insured thru them for three years. No hassles, no problems. I can drive as many miles as I like. I do have to store the car in the garage (not a remote location) but other than that, I can travel anywhere, park at hotels etc.
Many specialty insurance companies limit your miles or won't cover the vehicle if parked at a hotel etc. Basically, with many specialty insurance companies, unless you are WITH the vehicle or the vehicle is at your house, no coverage.... Read the fine print VERY carefully!

Do a SEARCH here --- it was discussed several times. Haggarty is one that comes to mind but several others were listed. State Farm will insure it (suspect on policy with other vehicles).
I called haggerty, i had my 911 insured through them, i thought i had to be an agent to call them directly but i got hooked up for $349 a year w/ $20k worth of coverage.

Did they mention the 2500 miles a year limitation?
I'm currently trying to get away from Haggerty because of this situation. (It seems that I put 3700 on my car in just 7 months.)

State Farm will cover, but as Wolf mentioned you need a primary car with them first. Some State Farm Agents are not aware that the company does cover speciality cars. Here, you get an appraisal and the best part is that you don't have a long list of "thou shall not" caveats.

Couldn't find my most recent bill (I pay annually) but $250/year sounds about right. I'm leaving Tuesday with the spyder for a trip that will total 2300 miles. No way I could "make do" at 2500 per year.
