Hello,
I have been the archives and read the old posts but I could not find anything recent about insurance. I am in So Cal and I would like insurance for my new speedster that would allow me drive it regularly. Would love some tips.

I have checked with Hargerty, waiting to hear from Grubb, and going to talk to the AAA guy to see if he can do (not sure I like the comp system though). This is my only car, my gf owns the Eclipse, but I can change title holders if needed.

Thanks.

I called Hagerty via State Farm yesterday, just to see what all the hype was about. Apparently, the office in Severna Park, MD, is typical of State Farm agencies; the referral was recommended by the S.F. agent I spoke to.
My modified '64 coupe with an agreed value of $30,000 was quoted at $521 per year. With an agreed value of $60,000, the coverage was quoted at $947 per year.
There's no deductible and I can't use it as a daily driver. But it's a comprehensive policy and a better rate ... I may switch.
USAA won't do agreed value for my car, and the best they'd cover it for is $10,000 -- and a deductible.
Has anyone actually had a claim with Hagerty?
I've had AAA here in San Diego for five years. Used "stated value" for insurance. Their rates vary with your annual mileage - but the mileage is NOT restricted - same as they do for the other four vehicles I currently have insured with them. They do check your mileage periodically.

Have also satisfactorily used State Farm in prior years. With them it was entirely dependent on the independent agent you find. I was refused, and then later accepted, by different agents at State Farm. Their rates were same as any other vehicle too.

Thanks. I will try AAA and SF. Do you use for a partial daily driver?

@ David - Would you mind if emailed you about what you told the ins agent. Some agents I have spoke to don't seem to understand what I am telling them.

I would love to hear from some more daily or frequent drivers in CA.
Try this company, they are in California:

Ask for Robert Leggio. We have our insurance thru them for the spyder. Affordable, no BS mileage limitations. Very few exclusions in the policy. If the vehicle is stored, it must be in the garage attached to your main dwelling. Rodent damage is not covered while it is stored. That's really the only oddities this policy has.

Thank you to everyone. I was able to get insurance for "stated value" of 25000 at S/F. Double the yearly if I had gone with classic insurance but no restrictions. I like that I can drive it to work or it can be stolen from the mall and I don't have to worry. I have them for six months so I will be on the hunt for better deals in 5 months.
