Hi everyone... newbie here. I finally got my Beck Spyder and will take delivery of it in the next couple of days. I wanted to see how others are insuring their car since I'm finding this a challenge. So, the question is, are you insuring through your "normal" insurance or through a "specialized" insurance like Hagerty, Grundy, etc.?
I've got a spotless driving record and own other cars for daily driving. I thought I'd go with Hagerty or Grundy but when speaking with them, they have all these restrictions like you cannot use as a back-up vehicle to drive to work (not that I would drive to work every day in it but I'd like to driving it on occassion during great weather days), cannot run errands in it, and basically cannot drive it unless I'm coming or going to a car show or some sort. So, if I'm dropping off my son to school on a random Tuesday morning and get into an accident, I'm going to have a hard time explaining what car show I was going to.
I have also asked my regular insurance company but they want double the amount as Hagerty, Grundy, etc. Is this the cost of having the freedom to drive your car when you want, where you want?
I'd appreciate any insight into what others are using for their insurance needs.
Thanks and looking forward to being a part of this great community!
