Hopefully have update soon. I made a few updates and Henry took a two weeker with his family. It's kills me too but I do have my Boxster to ease the pain. BTW it rained like 3-4 inches in 1-2 hours last night. Took the temp down from the 100 to a forecasted 90 today. Next week looks normal in low 80s. Heidi can keep you entertained while we wait:)

There is a guy in town who has a 1955, pre-A (T-0) original Speedster. Beautiful car....A little primitive for my tastes, but beautiful. His beehives rotted out after, what?....60 years, so he ordered a new set (all four) from some place in Germany. Paid MEGABUCKS! Like over $600 per PAIR! They're very beautiful.

Anyway, he gets them in and they're really dim. Like.....'Geez, I dunno.....Are they really lit?'. And that's looking at the STOP lights......

He gets a few friends to stop by and see what's up and one of the guys finally pulls a lens to look at the bulbs. THey look ok, but, in the end, they found that they were fitted with 12V bulbs. Seemed OK at first, until they realized that the car has a 6 volt electrical system.

Doh!!
My wife and I stopped by Henry's on Monday. She wants a dry car with a heater and roll up windows. IM does it very well. My wife will be getting rid of her CLK550 and needs a small SUV. She still wants to be able to drive "her" convertible. She won't/ can't drive my CMC. I think the IM Roadster would be a nice car for us both. I saw your car in there... NICE! I have some thinking to do.....Engine, trans colors, suspension, wheels,upolstery.......
Trailering--I've changed my attitude towards this---some. With a uber expensive car trailering might make great economic sense because you might not want to pile the miles on it.

In my own road trips I don't remember seeing but one single newish 911 on an interstate obviously being driven on a road trip. In the Midwest and East, I just never see an exotic brand of car being used for highway travel except in the West. Owners of these cars are trying to preserve the value by keeping the miles low. pile Look at the low mileage 10 year old exotics in The Robb Report magazine, for example.

To each his own--right?
Are there still outlets selling JDM 'pullout' Subaru engines? I had an '87 wagon that blew a piston at 137k and I found a guy running a one man shop in Santa Cruz, CA. He bought and installed a Japanese pullout longblock in my car for a total price of $406. and a week's downtime. As I recall the engine was $235. from a reseller in San Leandro. I went another 100,000 miles with that engine and it still ran fine when I sold the car.

The Japanese emmission laws require that all toxic materials and engines in cars be renewed at the equivalent of about 37000 miles or the car has to be junked.

Also, if using a Suby 5 speed, how is the AWB eliminated?

Hmmm, we've got a '98 Outback limited that's got only 49000 miles here....no resale value but maybe great value in a new IM build. (scheming... techniccally it's our daughter's car but she left it here and has a BMW X5 now because she's a 200k silicon valley yuppymommy)
