Well what can I say...your build has probably caused mine to be two months behind schedule...just ribbing you. I ordered my IM Roadster in February, thought it would be started in August and it isn't even painted yet, although the body is on the frame and getting preped for paint now.

I sold my IM Speedster about 5 or 6 weeks ago, thinking it may take a bit of time to sell it (it was pricey when I bought it, and it still was when I sold it), but it sold in a week. IM does build a beautiful car, and if treated right they hold value well too....

I'm glad to hear that your build is almost done. Henry mentioned that a crew was up there visiting in the last several weeks...now leave them alone and let them get to my car, please!!!

Here it is perfect weather in Atlanta and I have nothing to drive but my motorcycles...(which is okay), I can barely wait, but it looks like my Roadster may be closer to Thanksgiving rather than sooner, or maybe not...but the wait is killing me.

Good luck with the new IM.
Sure, I'll drive it if it ever gets done. I can't beleive how long it is taking. It will be prepped for paint for the next couple of weeks, then I hope progress if swift. I would like to see it before Christmas.

It sure is hard waiting for it, but I know it will be worth it when it is done.

Carlisle seems so far away..........

Brooks-

The color should look good to you- I shamelessly ripped off the color choice you made. It's a great silver- Mercedes "Iridium Silver" for everybody else.

I've got a lot of irons in the fire right now, so it's taking the edge off the wait. Once the car comes, I'll still need to fit and set up the engine. Q: How did Henry get all the pictures of the car without an engine? A: He installed an engine, set up the suspension, aligned the car, and test drove it for me- then pulled his engine back out of the car- all because I wanted to supply my own engine. I can't say enough about the personal service I received throughout the whole process.

BTW: I trust all is well with you. Shoot me an email and give me an update.
Stan,
Your car is stunning! I cannot afford an IM, or a Picasso painting, or a Frank Lloyd Wright house but that does not mean I fail to appreciate them.

The first time I saw an IM was at Knotts in 2004. Steve and I had just assembled the spyder and were at our first car show. I wandered around and found the IMs... And it was love at first sight. The finish, detail work and intelligent thought given to suspension, brakes etc., to make a wonderful driving but vintage looking car delighted me.

I still love my car - always will. But comparing my car to an IM is like comparing a the impressively loud and attention getting sound of an refrigerator falling down an elevator shaft to an orchestra playing the 1812 overture.... Still real cool and fun, but just not in the same league.

But the IM did give me many wonderful ideas for our next build. And that car will be a doozy. angela
Angela,

Oh, don't sell your car short. It is something very special, made even more so by the fact that you and Steve built is yourselves. There is nothing on your car that looks "homemade", but there are special touches everywhere that would have been stratospheric in cost had you paid somebody else to do it. The 911 mill in a Spyder puts your car in the elite "stupid-fast" club with Paul's 356, and puts your car on a whole 'nuther level of seriousness. In short, you car is very, very cool.

But I'm not going to argue about how great what Henry does either. As I said above, this is my THIRD speedster- contrary to popular belief, I am not a serial buyer... just very, very particular. This car meets my specifications, and I know what I'm looking at. I wanted the "essential" speedster- simple, great handling, and purposful- all business. The car is nice enough to "show", but I want to drive. I was almost obsessive (well not almost- I WAS obsessive) about weather resistance and heat- nothing keeps a car in the garage more than fear of rain or cool nights. The car has rack and pinion steering, bigger torsion bars on the rear, front and rear sway bars, CB wide 5 discs on all four corners, and Koni shocks. Anything not bolted on was undercoated with pickup bed liner. The underside of the car is gorgeous- the attention to detail phenominal.

Everybody can see the straight bodywork, and the glassy paint, and I wanted all of that- but it's what is under the skin that gets me REALLY pumped up- and it's all really, really nice.

I could go on and on about everything, but I don't want to go George Brown on you. Thanks for the compliments, but it's Henry who deserves them.
Hi Guys,
I'm a new poster on the 356 site, although I'm a seasoned poster with the 550 / Spyder sites.

I've been reading the correspondence with interest. I realise that for most of my American Cousins a UK purchase is out of the question, but if you want to see a car to rival the Intermecannica in terms os sophistication and uniqueness [ is there such a word? ] check out the Mohr / Classic Roadsters Ltd. Roadster T6.

The company used a real T6 Roadster as a base for the cantilever hood, interior and other parts. The company is based Nr. Stuttgart - very convenient!

Check out www.classicroadsters.co.uk. As I said, probably out of the question for US based enthusiasts - but still worth a look.

Yes, I did see the platypus. Thought it was REALLY cool. In fact I believe I voted for it as best open car, or best race car or something.

Of course, the Emory special with the 911 flat "four" (popolopodis?) motor is and will probably always be my favorite. Finally learned how they built that motor. Egads.... They actually machined the middle two cylinder out of the case..$$$$ It will allegedly, run 10,000 RPM without stopping, breaking, wearing out, smoking etc., for all the years they have run that engine. It will run at redline all day long. If money were not an object, that would be the 4cylinder object. angela
Stan,

As everyone already stated . . . JUST BEAUTUFUL! And that color is to die for, but most importantly . . . your tail lamps are in perfect harmony with the bumper.

Silly, and small, but it's my newest rant. It's so easy to get the lights too high, to too far inboard, or just in the wrong place, yours are perfect! As is the whole car as far as the pictures show. More pics PLEASE ! ! ! !

SWEET ! ! !
