IM wanted up to 20K. Must be an old pan based car. Please no projects or wide bodied examples or cars with non VW engines...or other crazy modifications. Thanks a lot!

Funds are here and ready to go

Are you able to arrange shipping of the vehicle from Canada to the land of Oz, Al ? Say, out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. What is the legal criteria for entrance of this type of car into Australia ?

To all the wonderful people that responded to my ad offering their beautiful cars, I should clarify budget is $20K Australian dollars..so sorry for the confusion. I know and I don't expect much for this budget (so long as it runs and is relatively complete) as the intention was to purchase one in 'so so' condition and restore it with my own choice of colour and interior etc. Sorry for the low budget as I still need to allow for the lousy Aussie currency exchange rate, import taxes and shipping! I may be able to stretch it a little more if the right IM comes along though. Thanks again!

So a little under $15,000 US ....

My thoughts exactly! But in 1978 (or so) CMC bought out stock of Speedster bodies and molds from IM and produced and sold them as CMC Speedsters.  IM moved from Calif to Canada shortly after. Most CMC were customer built - you won't find IM cast in the hood/engine lid hinges but all else is same (save perhaps level of assembly).  You can find a CMC (or FiberFab which CMC bought and sold around same time) for that $$$.  There are many used and even unbuilt CMCs available.
