Working with Henry and the team at IM has been a very good experience. Based on customization, your build time will vary. After I placed my order I completely changed the engine, the suspension and the wheel size. I am now in month 16 of an expected 18 month build process. If you want one now, talk to IM about pre-owned cars they are selling. If you want one soon, go with a known build and don't change everything!

Buying and receiving your IM Roadster/Speedster is only a small part of the equation.

Yes, they are expensive. Yes, they have very good workmanship. Yes, they will listen to your desires and tell you if they can be accomplished and what that may (or may not) cost you. Yes, IM owners are a very proud group...and why not? They have beautiful cars that are lovingly assembled and provide many years of fun. They're not cheap cars in any sense of the word, but they are very good cars.

The other side of the equation, however, is almost more important. The other side is Henry Reisner and his band of capable mechanics and craftspeople who will go out of their way to make you feel special, make you feel that your car build is special and that you are truly getting your money's worth from your investment.

The other side of the equation also gives you that same group of people who will stand behind their product after it has left their shop, even knowing that it may be going to a place far away from Vancouver where it may be difficult to find competent service, but they will find it for you and make it work.

Intermeccanica is not alone in this support: Some other builders provide great support, too (Carey Hines at Beck comes to mind as providing extraordinary support) but, since you already have made the plunge with IM, fear not! You've done your homework and bought a very good car from a very good company.

Now you can suffer from the anxiety of waiting for it to get built and arrive.... ;>)

(No, I don't own an IM, but there are plenty of them on here)
G Allan,
What do you want to know? I have been driving mine for about 5 or 6 years now, clocking 38,000 miles. I live in the Sacramento, CA area and have driven to the IM BBQ a couple of times, to Southern CA more times than I can count and I've made several trips to Portland, OR for the Parts Obsolete Campout. I did Paso last year and would have loved to do Morro Bay this year but I had to go to Maui with the wife.

I'd be more than happy to talk to you if you want to send your phone number to my email. I talk and talk so I should probably call you.

I had two speedsters before I had my Intermeccanica coach built for me in 2005. This will be the last one I own, because I'll never sell it.

It was a joy working with Henry before during and after the build. It still is. I'm not a spectacularly wealthy man- but the work I do with my hands pays the bills, and I appreciate quality craftsmanship. I care about everything. It was worth every penny to deal with someone who feels the same way.

You'll never regret it.
This was my first post, and I'm amazed at the effort people take to help a fellow car lover feel welcome. I can't thank everyone enough. Especially the wise Ass Wolfgang. I got a good chuckle from his response. I don't think it's buyers remorse it's more like buyers trepidation!
Thanks!
Humph! I prefer "wise old owl" --- vice the species of horse. I did say "brought on by a long wait" --- which translates to: should I have gotten silver instead; will square weave really smell like a wet dog when wet; leather or p-leather, is AC really needed, radio or sound of engine, what size tires, but the kids don't really need braces or college; will someone scratch it parked at work; is 2387cc big enough; etc. Ya only live once - so go for it!
BTW, My IM was finished in 1980. The car still looks awesome. Part of this is driven by the TLC given to the car over the last 28 years, part of this driven by the quality of the product IM delivers. Like many others, IM is the most costly, but I've owned two Speedsters previous, and the quality and attention to detail of the IM is second to none.

You made a good choice, now have fun with it. And, PS, if you become addicted to this site and checking on the progress of your build you're not alone. That's the way it goes. Ever once in a while I walk out to my garage to admire my Speedster.

I recieved my IM speedster 6 in January. Its truly an all weather vehicle. Ive had 3 factory built Porsches in my car career. This one is better built, faster, more fun than any I've driven. I agree with all the posts. If you have the coin,....and the time , you can do no better than Henry and his Gang at Intermeccanica! If you want to speak further e-mail offsite, and I'll be happy to share my build with you.
