It needs an engine compartment seal, and since there's no mention of brakes I'm guessing it's got drums all around. Is it a swingaxle or independent rear suspension (irs)? It would be nice to know the mileage on the engine and the ring & pinion/4th gear in the transaxle (a 1641 generally doesn't develop enough torque to be paired with a 3.88/.89 or any longer gears, so it may have cooling problems on the highway).
I like that the side trim and emblems have been removed and the holes filled in, but the door handles and hood handle arent' my cup of tea. But that's only my opinion, and if it floats your boat, go for it. If you ask, someone here may live close by and be able to have a look at it for you. Something that looks good in pics sometimes reveals it's true condition when viewed up close.
Hope this helps. Al
I agree with Al-looks kinda strange without door handles.
I think it would look better without bumpers, giving it a more full outlaw look.
I sorta like the way the seats are done.
And it's got '66/67 VW wheels.
If anyone is looking for a California based speedster for sale, they should seriously be considering the one that Anthony is representing. That car is sorted by Anthony, a pretty solid mechanic and it only needs a few simple tweaks to make it a great looking car. If I didn't already have one I'd be looking to make a deal on that car.
As for the car listed above; it's a pretty solid starting point. I've seen much worse. As Al and others mentioned, VW wheels, no mention of disc brakes, no mention of top, etc.. Taking that into account and based on current prices that I've seen - if someone gets it around 12k / 12.5 it'd be a fair deal for both sides. I'd bet the reserve is set higher than that.
It'll be fun to see if/what it sells for.

Oooh Wheel Skinz! Nice steering wheel and seats. I'm sure swing axle by heater knob on floor.
Good eye, Greg! I never thought to try to pin down the age of the pan (will have to file that away). Mind you, if the guy's welded in pivots for the trailing arms...
Ted- Since this is a for sale thread, post the link to the car Anthony has; the more the merrier!
And the more I look at it, Ron, the more I agree with you; the bumpers need to come off. Some nerf bars with the about half the bottoms cut off would suit it. Kind of like this (ignore the rust patina, although I have to admit I LOVE HOW THAT CAR LOOKS!)-
PS- This is not my car. Just another pic I stole off this big interweb thingie.
Seller says he has the top and bows. Makes me think it's never been on the car. I agree with others; for the complete Outlaw look take off the bumpers and add nerf bars and leather hood straps.
What? You don't think the faux rust look is striking?

I think it really works on that car. I dig that outlaw, but I thought it was a real 356.
I looked at the bottom front edge, Ted, and assumed it was fiberglass. I could be wrong...
I have no idea . For some reason I thought I read it was real. I can't imagine that if it were real that the guy wouldn't sell it for $$$$ and buy a replica for $$ and pocket the rest of the $$.
Ted
Painting fake rust on a fiberglass bodied car.....now that's funny.
Ted 's number is spot on...
To make a fiberglass car "rusty" you spackle some glazing putty on & throw some steel shavings on it while it's still wet.
Ha, complete rust thru and rust bubbles under the paint are probably more difficult.

Maybe it is Ted; I've only seen the 1 pic. Where did you read about it?
Looks to be a T-0 (54/55) steel speedster. Those years had the vent grills closer to the bottom of the headlights
and the rocker deco molding closer to the door bottoms. Godawful. But then I'm a
