Does anyone know how many IM 356 have been manufactured in total and how many are being produced per year?

trade secret for sure
Here you go!
From IM website I was surprised to find that "The years between 1976 and 1979 saw some 600 INTERMECCANICA Speedsters produced." That's 200 per year - I doubt they have kept that rate of production up now though. Below link says 608 from 1976-1980.

Just a small clarification....the web site Wolfgang posted is not IM's website.
It's an independent site for the "Intermeccanica Enthusiasts Club," apparently an on-line group similar to ours. It is not affliated with Intermeccanica Inc.
That said, the site is full of great info and loosk to be accurate. But the owners of the .org site do not provide their sources for most of the info.
But I bet ya'll knew that already. ;-)
From one of the links above to another unoffical IM site it says of those early 600 cars (this would have been around 1980 when the moved from CA to Canada):
"In order to produce the Speedsters, Mr. Reisner formed a partnership with Tony Baumgartner in Santa Ana, California. This company, Automobili Intermeccanica, produced about 600 of these fibreglass-bodied and VW-based beauties before Frank sold off his share to Tony and the whole project was sold to Classic Motor Carriages in Florida.
If one reads the Prancing Bull the story of Intermeccanica, you can glean a lot of information on the history of the company and it's present incarnation from Paula Reisner, Henry's mom. Excellent read I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's as close as getting it directly from the dream maker himself
