I think we may have a great opportunity here?? I have a guy I work with here in Iowa that has a glasair III kit that needs to be built. I think about 30% of the work is done and all of the parts are there to make a really nice plane. I'm thinking its worth about 35k, but he may be willing to make a straight across trade with someone like Scott who would then be able to finish the kit and make some pretty serious coin on the airplane???? Let me know if we should put these guys together??? My guy just got married and needs his garage for the lovely new wife, but the car would be cool to have and easier for him to sell later, while Scott could save about 13k on a kit that may be right up his alley for building???
I've met Scott and seen his car up close. It is cool. There is a story that goes with the car, I'll paraphrase. Scott traded it off I'm told for an airplane project. The guy with the car got in some yank to sell or something and Scott got a chance to buy and enjoy it a second time around...Too bad it has to go for Physical reasons as opposed to fiscal reasons.

But speaking of fiscal reasons to buy this car, look at the attention to detail being given away here! A tricked (or well-treated) Vintage is nearly that with tax, and there isn't a ghost of a chance of having as nice a car!

Serious buyers need to look at the comparisons that way you know.
Corn farmers included!
A friend of mine in the Sacramento area is selling his 2000 IM roadster. The car is an original Porsche Silver with black top and red leather interior. Scott has just installed original Porsche Steering wheel/column/turn signal combination. This car has has overider bars and 4 wheel disc brakes. The wheels are 4-bolt chrome/nipple caps. The engine in a CB unit, 2110 and I believe he had some additional head work done to boost the performance a bit. There is less than 8000 miles on this car and believe me, this car is PERFECT. The car was built as an IM Coach (buyer installs the engine/running gear). Scott builds experimental aircraft and has one of his planes in the McMinnvile, OR air museam as a testiment to his mechanical/building skills. Scott wants to sell this beautiful IM as he recently had knee surgery and can no longer use the clutch. Scott will be snail mailing some photos in the next day or so, and I will scan them in. Get in touch with me via email if you are interested and I will get you in touch with the Scott. He is not much of a computer user.

Oh by the way, this car is LEGALLY REGISTERED in California and has a SPCN Certificate of Sequence number.

His asking price is $29,000

Edited 11/1/05: The car was built in 2000 not 2001. My mistake, I apologize to anyone that was depending on that info. The miles on the car is closer to 7000. dale
Dale, just curious, but having a Gee Bee replica, I was wondering if your friend had ever heard of or perhaps knows Delmar Benjamin. Delmar is a "gentleman farmer" from Nebraska, I believe, who had been flying a Gee Bee R2 replica at the Oshkosh Fly in for many years. Aside from the fact that he does things in this airplane that are supposedly not possible, or at least advisable, he has more flight time in this Gee Bee than everybody else combined, living or dead (many pilots of this aircraft met an untimely end in it).

Ok, I have my asbestos suit on now, so here goes nothing.

As the Roadster, or more precisely the Convertible D, which is what Henry's beautiful Roadsters are patterned after, is the natural evolution and really the most evolved form of the original Speedster, why would anyone want to convert (dare I say, regress) back to a Speedster when they have that beautiful Roadster sitting in their garage?
Perhaps if I had one of the Roadsters, or I had let the lovely Michele make the decision, I would know the joy that a roadster (convertable D) provides. Instead, I have a bare bones, wind in the face, rain on the bald spot speedster with electric windows that are seldom used because I want to feel nature at it's best/worst.

The only reason to convert such a beautiful car would be to go further back in time when men were men and could stand fighting the environment. See you Saturday.
