Intermeccanica Speedster for sale.  1977 is located on the door jam automobili intermeccanica label.  This makes this an early example for the company.  PA title states 1966 Volkswagen, VIN 146349929.  Additional paperwork states VW Karman Ghia convertible. 30k miles.  ID number located in the door jam 146349929.  New Hampshire Issued Vehicle ID 006997 located in the door jam.  Webers : 40DF

This is a project.  The car has sat for over a decade with little use other than running it for small intervals.  The car belonged to my father, and is now owned by my mother.  I enjoy the car hobby but I am not a VW guy nor a Porsche guy and this ad is as descriptive and honest as I can make it.  Refer to the photos at the supplied Shutterfly link.  All systems need to be sorted.  After paint many years ago my father never fully assembled the details.  Lights don’t work, with some not connected.  Bumper is off.  Exterior handles not installed.  New chrome wheels in original boxes come with the purchase.  Top is off the car and material is deteriorated.  Frame is accounted for.  During paint, holes for wipers and snaps to attach the top were apparently partially filled in with the intent of clearing them out later during trim installation.  Several boxes of parts come with the purchase including trim not installed, wiper assembly, rear bumper, emblems, etc.  See the photos.  Parts also include many duplicate used pieces already replaced such as engine trim, hubcaps, etc.

The car shifts through all gears with an extremely short-shift set-up.  No grinding.  Clutch engagement needs adjustment.  Brakes work.  Engine runs but is rough and down on power, likely not on all cylinders.  Ignition etc has not been checked out.  Interior was poorly redone years ago with poor fit and finish.  Carpets are loose, passenger door panel/card is off, some trim is not installed, steering wheel is shot.  Temp gauge is not reading.  Other gauges work.  Pan and underside in general looks good with no corrosion.

My father was unable to complete his dream of finishing and using this Speedster.  Under his ownership it was painted in 99’ and had the engine out with a valve job in 97’.  Paperwork with the car shows a sale in MA in 89’ with 29k miles, and the purchase by my father in 97’ with 30k miles.  The car is located in Horsham PA, very close to PA turnpike Willow Grove exit 343 near Philadelphia.

The Speedster is priced at $7,800.  Questions or arrangements to see the car will be answered at the7throper@hotmail.com

Asking price is half of a good used base Vintage ...this is one of those interesting but large speedster projects. Doing all the workmyself it is doable but for someone to sub out additional and expensive labor costs...it gets pricey. Yes the car runs but roughly. Body and paint work needed. In my experience an honest opinion the car should come almost completely apart and refresh most including covering entire brake systeme car pulling motor apart probably shocks are probably stiffrozen after 10 years . Made what is a reasonable offer  i do have a bit of flex on that....hope we can do a quick cash deal .

Ed..   Not me, there is way to much to invest in buck$ and man hours on this one to make it safe and right. In doing so, you can buy one a nice low mileage speedster already done. If it is actually going to  " BH Motorcars" they will do what they do, rebuild it and sell it way over priced as they usually do to first time unsuspecting speedster buyers...

They will try to sell it... Their inventory tends to grow a lot quicker than it shrinks. At least half of their cars have been in inventory for 9 months or longer.
