I finally have figured out that the top and windshield I have for my CMC is from an Intermeccanica roll up window vehicle. Does anyone have a picture or sketch of the bow pivot points and how the bows interface with each other and connect to the body? It appears at present that the top will not stretch far enough to the rear.

Mike:

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I recently installed a VS top onto a CMC using the CMC top bows and header.

At first, the top material was "too short", meaning that it wouldn't quite stretch far enough either front-to-back or left-to-right.

What I ended up doing was shortening the top bows about 2 inches on each end to lower the overall top such that I had enough material to reach to the sides and back. This also gave me a shorter amount of head room - not a problem for my 5'6" body - but the look of the finished top is that of a chopped top - more level than bulbous.

Here's what it looks like, and good luck with yours:
Thanks for the tip, I will give that a go. The pivot mechanism that attaches to the bows is still a mystery for the Intermeccanica top - I believe I got a glimpse of a picture of one in the photo section in "Dale's" listing showing quite an intricate looking mechanism fastening /interfacing body and bows. I wonder if I could purchase such a piece from Intermeccanica?

Don't see why not - Henry's pretty good about that sort of thing.

Don't know if this'll help, but check out page 93 of the later CMC manual up in the "Library" section. It shows a close-up view of the top bow attachment, as well as the tensioner lever and how thay all attach. I haven't studied a lot of IM's, but I remember seeing one at Carlisle with the top up, and remember that the attachment/lever looked very similar to my CMC.

Thanks Gordon , I have a CMC manual but I think that the Intermeccanica top is different somehow.

Thanks Dale, photos would be great, I could at least confirm whether the CMC manual pivot diagram for top with rollups Gordon referenced is the same as the Intermeccanica. The partial photo shown of an Intermeccanica roadster in "Dales" photos looks different from the CMC description.

I'm planning to build my top for summer. And the mechanism (bows headers..) is a bit mystery for me too. I have some pics of original bows, but if someone could send me inside pics of top or mechanism?
Specially the bars (are they called headers) that goes from bows to windshield and the front part where you connect the latches..
I have some problems with the names/terms due to not so perfect english...
