Uhm thanks for responding, if theres a lull in my responses please chaulk it up to the fact that I comercial trawl and am gone for periods of time, actualy starting in a few hours I should be sleeping... The parts I'm interested in is the entire door latch mechanism. The door side and the jam side, my insurance says "rebuild" in 1979 so I think that's when it was built. Oh, BTW is Henry the owner of Intermechanica? I know very little of the company other than it used to be located in Vancouver B.C., I'm from Vancouver Island. thanks again Mark
You can hit the "Makers" tab about two inches up to your right. In there hit the links and you'll find IM's site and all the contact info. I hope that didn't sound like I'm being some smart ass. I've just been using that tab up there in my own search for information.

I wish I could help with the info you need on the latch, but I can't. I have a replica made by Vintage Speedsters and the latch is different.. Another option though? Look at the Registry tab. In there you can quickly scan the list of owners and their make & year of Speedster Replica. If you go through the list ( a few pages) I am sure you will find a few owners of IM replicas of the same year as yours. Try e-mailing them.

There is also a search function available here... there may be an old forum post that has some information on the latch.

Henry at IM is your best bet though. The Web site has the phone numbers, fax, mail, and e-mail.

Welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of info here and a great group of owners like the guys above that are very helpful and know more about VWs, Porsches, and Speedster Replicas than I could absorb in several lifetimes.

Jim
Thanks alot again, I'll try as you suggest. I haven't gotten a response from Henry yet, but while on his website, I came across the history of Intermeccania and apparenly in my vehicals manufactured year the company was based in the U.S. and disolved and sold to Clasic Motor Cariages. It says that all the toolings for the V.W. based speedster was sold as well. My car is definately V-dub based so the short of it is it probably had the same latches as "older" CMC cars but may not be the same now. Sometimes what was common like a V-dub rabbit becomes harder to find so another source of hardware is found and the molds adjusted to fit the new stuff. Hey Jim maybe I could take a picture of my door jam and if it looks similar maybe you could tell me what year yours is and I could contact CMC, is there any way to attach pictures in this forum?...mark
Marc:

I was thinking that a picture might be worth it, too. If the earlier IM's were, indeed, the same as the CMC's, as you mentioned, then parts might even be easier to get, although from "Street Beasts" now, of from members on here.

Post a picture of what you want, and also check out other members on here (CMC's, VS's, etc) who are close to you and that you might visit, to see what their latches look like. You might find others are the same...
