There seems to be a real dearth of Speedster events and owners in this part of the country. I'm from No CO and other than the BugFest at Bandimere drag strip in Golden, CO there is really nothing going on here for Bugs or Speedsters.

I went to a big car show a couple years ago in Green River, UT and saw two Speedsters there, both if I remember correctly out of Salt Lake. I know of only one other Speedster owner here in this area from Ft Collins, There are a few owners in the Denver area.

Just aren't many Speedster owners in the Intermountain west...

The best, and most fun I've EVER had with my car has been tearing through the desert between SLC and NoCal. Nevada is just surreal (day or night), and the "speed limit" is 75 mph, with a bill to increase to 80 working its way through the legislature.

If you get a ticket for "rural speeding", less than 15 or 20 over, it's $75 and no points or reporting. That's like a donut dangling in front of a fat-kid for an Illinois (state motto: we exist to protect you from yourself) boy like me.

This means that by the Tour-de-Hoe time, you'll be able to drive about 95 mph on any rural NV highway, with the only risk being a $75 slap on the wrist. I've hammered on US 50 through Nevada, driving 80-90 MPH pretty much the entire day. I got a $75 ticket after gassing up in Reno.

It was the best $75 I ever spent.

Too much desert? I like to drive too much for that to ever be true.
