Hi All,
Just thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm from Mandurah, Western Australia, and have just purchased a LHD Apal Speedster replica which I intend to convert to RHD.
It joins my other cars, a 1979 911 SC,a 1993 MX5, a restored 1978 Kombi Campervan and a 2001 BMW 325.
Are there any other australian members out there ?
I'm keen to learn more about the history behind Apal Speedster production from any other owners also.

Regards,
Phillip B

Hi Dave,
Good question-one I have pondered and am still a little unsure about.
It's not a requirement of the local constabulary as it is currently licenced in LHD format.
A few years ago I purchased a LHD 911 SC on the recommendation of a friend who said for him his car being LHD wasn't an issue (a few years later he converted it to RHD).
I found it was an issue for me-kept walking up to the wrong side of the car to get in (doh !), couldn't see well enough to overtake safely, couldn't go through drive-ins conveniently etc.
So in making the decision to buy, I told myself that I would factor in conversion to RHD costs.
Since then I am reconsidering- although I have purchased all the parts to convert. I am mainly concerned about the "flopping" of the dash to RHD -as in will it look as good as it does in LHD form.( I am also planning to change the instruments to a 3 gauge original 356 VDO style and am awaiting arrival of that from Vintage Speedsters).
