I bought my CMC from down south for $5000 in running condition with 95% of the parts included. The body was in rough condition. I had to grind off approx 15% of the gelcoat on the entire body due to stress cracks. The through wall cracks were complete grind outs. The nose to hood area did not match up. Had to build up this area . The gelcoat was dried out severely. After a great deal of sanding and priming with an epoxy filler prime it is as good as new. I'm glad that part is over.
I wouldn't let lack of a title scare you off you are nearby and can haul it home. Good price considering the kit with no chassis was $8k and it all appears to be there. At worse you would have to replace the part of the chassis with the serial number with one from a titled one --- it was cut there and shorted once anyhow. All states are different but you could also apply for a title from DMV --- it looks like it was together and on the road at one time. Some states (state police) will do a search for stolen vehicle and if clear let you stamp in a new one. My CMC sales literature claims you can build it in 80 hours --- so 1/2 work is done on that one and you could be driving in a week! (Realistically its more like 200-400 hours). Only caution I would have is the body was color gelcoated --- it might have been red but appears nearly all gelcoat was sanded or sand blasted off. If its down to bare fibers that's a lot of work unless you want to glue on indoor/outdoor carpet for the Dumb and Dumber look.
