Go to the bottom of the page and open the 'latest video'..this is the exaust Chico supposedly is using on my 2017 build. One thing's for sure it's got the stock look down pat..

I'm not sure if it 'fits' my neighborhood though and It's not quite the deep sound I'm looking for. I'm wanting a more subdued sound...something I can cruise 250 miles to the coast and not get a migraine 50 miles in..it's gotta growl but not snarl...?

That exaust does sound mean for sure. The 90 year old guy 2 doors down is going to love it. Especially when I come screaming down the way on the limiter' at midnite draggin some lubed' up trollop back to my lair muahaha..

geeze - is that your engine they are redlining for 10 seconds at a time?

i've heard great things about those guys, but that video has me wondering. the oil filter line is literally sitting on the exhaust and there looks to be zero exhaust ventilation

sorry, i know you asked about the mufflers.

if it's not too late (and i were you) - i'd upgrade to a better setup. those are not great in the performance department (search thesamba.com / performance engine section). you'd see a noteable hp increase with a merged header system like a sidewinder or something similar.

sorry, i know you asked about the noise.

too loud - nah, not for me anyway. i have earplugs for trips anyway.

OK I'm sold. Just spent a good bit of time researching the A-1. Sounds amazing not to mention the performance. One complaint I heard was the dust some of the downward tail pipes were creating. One guys said it was like a helicopter's wash blowing dust and crap all over.

Here's a simple/cool solution a GHIA owner came up. Instead of having the exaust tip pointing down or out to the side he had an 'extension' sent slightly down and then out the back. The extension (chrome tip style) sticks out past the bumper.

Here's some pics>

pretty cool
In that video he is more than likely breaking a cam in as well as getting a dyno reading.
He dynoed mine and only took it up to 5K-5500 rpm. That motor sounds like he is doing the same, which is not going to hurt anything and if anything WERE to fail, better that it does it right there on the dyno than after it is installed into a car thousands of miles away!
That engine sounds great and watch that video again, you will see NO smoke coming from those tail pipes at all...very good tune & ring seal already.
I did notice the oil filter, but the hoses are on the heat exchanger and do not get that hot, since it covers the exhaust pipe,it is almost like a heat shield.
Long story short, that engine sounds awesome, and nothing looked abusive or crazy to me.
BTW I am running a A-1 exhaust,it is loud, but it is hard to have a quiet "performnce" exhaust unless you have a turbocharged car.
i don't think that there is any cam break-in happening on that motor. the carbs are pegged wide opened.

this could just be a demo motor to show the muffler setup. it could also be in a garage with the double door wide opened. it's all speculation on my part. not trying to make anyone look bad with my comments.

anyway - barne, i think you'll be happy with the sidewinder
